Advantages: Central, Decent Breakfast, Handy for Heathrow Express Disadvantages: No Customer Service, No bar/tea making, Shabby rooms

We booked flights and accomodation through British Airways Holidays. As such we expected a certain standard, even though it was only rated 2 star.
The hotel is centrally situated on Craven Road, just 3 minute walk from Paddington Rail Station. This station ... ...handy for us.
The hotel looks very grandiose form outside. A few steps takes you inside to the reception area. The staff on reception appeared un-interetsed. They didn't make conversation, this may be because they didn't have good english.
On the British Airways Holiday website they advise there is a bar. This was never open!

We booked flights and accomodation through British Airways Holidays. As such we expected a certain standard, even though it was only rated 2 star.
The hotel is centrally situated on Craven Road, just 3 minute walk from Paddington Rail Station. This station is also the terminus for the Heathrow Express which was handy for us.

Our rooms were on the 5th floor overlooking the back of the hotel and kitchens. Our room was on the small side. Enough room for a double bed, 1 bedside table and 1 chair. There was a cupboard used as a wardrobe.
Our friends room was even smaller. Just enough room to squeeze round the bed.
Both rooms were ensuite. Sink, toilet and shower tray. The rooms and bed linen were clean. The decor/paintwork was, at best shabby.
There was no tea making facilities and you could not get tea in the hotel except at breakfast. There was a god send of a little cafe a liitle way up the road which was open till about 2200.
Breakfast was served on the lower ground floor. The breakfast room was quite small and to ensure a seat together you had to get there pretty early. The breakfast was good, although just continental. There was always a good choice of cereal, yoghurt, croissants, toast, preserves, fruit juices and tea/coffee. This was probably the best part of the stay.
There is noise from the "tubes" which run directly under the hotel from around 0530 to 0100. This is more evident on lower floors although you can hear even feel them on higher floors.
Overall if you want a "no frills" central hotel which is handy for the Heathrow Express, with a decent breakfast then consider this hotel. However lack of customer service skills, no tea making facilities and small shabby bedrooms means I will not be staying here again.
