Well, with the fact that I am a palestinian boy, I have of course reltaives in Amman/Jordan. Sor, I travelled many times from Munich/Germany(where I live) to Amman.
My last journey to Jordan was a prize of a radio quiz, and the prize was a journey to Amman in the "Crown Class" of RJ and 4 nights in the "Crowne Plaza Amra" in Amman!

Something about RJ
----------------------------
The Airline was foundet in 1963 by King Hussein II. and it's former name was "Alia" after his oldest daughter. The airline started with servcies to Europe, first destinations were Munich, Paris and London. The home base is Amman, Queen Alia International Airport-40km away from Amman city.
Today, Royal Jordanian serves over 30 destinations worldwide (daily service to London/Heathrow, New York/JFK, Chicago, Munich, Frankfurt, Paris/Orly, Vienna, Amsterdam, Bangkok,Kuala Lumpur, Tel Aviv,.... and most of the Arabic countries).

My experiences with Royal Jordanian
--------------------------------------------------

1)Economy Class
I've flown several times on RJ. The first time, was terrible! The check-in was not organised at all, it was the first of the summer vacation in Bavaria and many Arabic families wanted to fly to Amman. We got our seats (I was flying with some friends), but from the moment we entered the aircraft (A310) we prayed to God, to arrive in safe! Our seat was in the back-position whole time, c/a did not speak Arabic or English-but Russian and Chinese! But we arrived (hamdoulilah, we islamic people say;-) in safe and our flight back was a lot better (A320).
This was in 2001.

One year later- we were the same group- we traveled again to Amman. The check-in was o.k., it was the same situation with the holidays, and our seats were again in the middle row of the A310. This time, the aircraft gave us very safe impression, seats were o.k., food the same as a year before and cabin attendents were very friendly and arabic! The flight back to Munich was quite good, too. On this trip I was alone and I knew one stewardess from the trip in 2001!

The check-in Amman at the airport is very difficult. There is always a crowd of people and you do not know what to do (pay taxes, passport controll, security check (there are three!)......). To avoid this airport rush, Royal Jordanian invites it's passengers to use RJ City Terminal in Downtown Amman, at the 7th circle. There people can check in one day before, are hand out their boarding cards and pay the depature taxes. At the airport, they only have to pass the passport control. Well, I used this termnal and it is a good solution for the "trouble" in the airport- and you get 15kg more free baggage allowance!

Crown Class
------------------
The "Crown Class" is the first and business class of Royal Jordanian-it's a mix of both!
With a lot of luck I won these two tickets in the radio and in October 2003 I flew for one week to Amman with my lovely sister(she'll marry next Spring, so it was our last trip together;-).
We had special check-in counter in Munich which was closed-haha! But, the RJ-personal tokk our staff and checked it at the economy desk and so we did not have to wait. After that, we have been invited for a visit in the "Atlantic Lounge" in Munich Airport to wait for our depature. There we had a small snack and a drink. Then boarding began, and we entered the aircraft (A320) with the economy passengers and have been brought to our seats (row 1, of course). Before take-off, we have been served a drink (of course not Champagner!) and some Arabic snacks(peanuts,nuts...). On air we got a menu to choose our meals- there were 5 courses! From smoked beef(apperitf) to salmon in pesto sauce and as a dessert some cake from the bar! We ate 2 hours at all! Then we were served a toilett bag, with a teeth brush,...I think you know this from British Airways! Prior to our arrival in Amman (after 3.45h at all!) we became a business card holder (real silver!) or some bath salt from the Death Sea! Realy good service, buddies!
The flight back was the same, check-in was a lot more awesome in a special VIP-Room in Queen Alia Airport and the exclusive Jerash Lounge. And after all, our aircraf back was an A310, so the seats were a lot more comfortable (full reclined seats).

Price
------
For an economy ticket from Munich to Amman retourn you pay about 410-440€ (sorry I don't know prices in pound!!!).
The tickets in business class I got for free, so I can not provide any information about these fares!

Frequent Flyer programme
-------------------------------------
With Royal Plus, apssengers can collect miles for their flights on Royal Jordanian!

This airline is very good, and the airplane I flow with the first time, does not fly anymore on the opassenger routes-only for cargo!

So, bye and greetings from Munich!

IbI

P.S. Sorry, for any mistakes in my language, but as you see English is not my mother's language-these are German and Arabic!!
