...Having enjoyed a lovely 4 days in sunny Spain, it's back to the old daily grind for me! So while I'm sitting in my lovely cool office in the centre of London, smelling numerous bbq's and the like wafting through the wide open window I thought I'd let you know how I got on!
Hotel Palacio Garvey - JerezdelaFrontera, Spain
The Hotel is located in the sherry-making town of Jerez (Heh-RETH). Yes, that lovely sweet drink that goes brilliantly with Christmas pudding and wedding receptions is made in this one, small town. It is located to the south of Spain near Gibraltar and the port town of Cadiz.
The hotel itself if in a very central location, within walking distance to all bodegas and tapas bars in the centre of the town. A car isn't needed; in fact it would be very difficult to get around in the town if you did have a car...

Advantages: Great price, free mini-bar, good service, free footie! Disadvantages: some distance from the centre
..., we didn't like the idea of people getting out of the lift and admiring our dinner, so we didn't opt to eat in the hotel.

This is more direct than the bus route which doesn't take you through the nicest areas of Jerez. It is a little quicker though and costs less than 1 Euro.
There is a Champion hypermarket 10 minutes walk from the hotel which is handy for supplies and the Gonzalez Byass Bodega provide free delivery of your sherry to your hotel if you spend enough! (20 Euros,I think)
The hotel has an underground car park (which you pay for) and a free car park in front of the hotel which is barrier-controlled. This hotel was the cheapest of our holiday and excellent value for money...

Advantages: Able to get it last minute, nice surrounding area Disadvantages: Food, Staff, Price, Other guests, the room....... everything else
...It was pure chance that we stayed at the Paradis ParkHotel in Pineda De Mar. Whilst looking for a cheap and cheerful last minute deal to get some sun I spotted a package to the Calella Palace Hotel through Teletext holidays online.
After a bit of research the decision was made to book it, however, the dates we wanted weren't available. We were offered an allocation on arrival for the same price, or for an extra £45 each we could have an alternative named hotel of the same rating. Being unadventurous I opted for the latter and was given the choice of the Alexis Hotel (I had previously read reviews all of which were bad) and the Paradis ParkHotel.
I accepted the Paradis Park (as recommended by Sun4U Limtied, the tour operator) and after it had all been booked up we discovered that the Paradis Park was a 3 star, whereas the Calella...
