The hotel architecture echoes the shapes of ancient buildings dating back to the 16 -17th century and harmoniously integrates cultural heritage with modern materials and technologies.
Advantages: great location, cheap, nice rooms, excellent food Disadvantages: no parking, quite dated
Introduction to the hotel:
The Royal Albion Hotel was built in 1826 and is situated in a fantastic location opposite Brighton pier. It is a three star hotel and has 186 guest rooms offering views of Brighton beach or the town centre.
My experience of the hotel:
I spent one night in the hotel in January of this year and for a three star hotel I was quite impressed. I and my girlfriend booked a double room for £55 and it was a spacious room with a four poster bed, couch, satellite television, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a lovely modern bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath. When we checked in the hotel staff asked us if we would like to upgrade to a room with a Jacuzzi batch for £10, we said no, but were a bit intrigued to find one anyways - they had obviously given our room away and were trying to get the extra £10 out ...
Advantages: Lovely bedrooms, large shower, bar staff friendly, luggage room to leave bags. Disadvantages: Too far from city centre, transport costs to hotel very dear, area undesirable.
My partner and I recently visited Amsterdam (in late May for 4 nights) and as I was so busy with work, left it up to him to book the hotel and take care of the details. We have been to Amsterdam before and the hotels we usually stay at had no vacancies, so he booked us into the Blue SquareHotel, and proudly showed me the documents he had printed off and the website. "Looks lovely, oh it says it's close to the town centre- within walking distance- can't wait!" was my reaction. Out of the airport we trundled a few weeks later with our cases and got into a waiting taxi. He drove us to the hotel. It took a LONG time. As he was unloading our cases with us he said "This is not a good area for you." I asked him what he meant by that. "Is not a good area and is too far to walk to town, you will have to use trams. Don't pay all the time ...
Advantages: Close to shopping centre/ city centre Disadvantages: Shops close early, rooms slightly pricey
One one of my many visits to beautiful Trinidad, I decided to try the Royal Palm SuiteHotel in Maraval. Having stayed in quite a few hotels and having heard positive reviews from family members, I decided to give it a shot and hopefully have an enjoyable stay. The hotel is mid sized with 70 or so rooms or suites, and is a family run local hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly and always had a smile or a kind word.
*LOCATION*
The hotel is a 20 minute drive from the Piarco International airport and taxis are readily availabe at the airport at a cost of around £15 (guests can make prior arrangements to be met at the airport by the hotel's in-house taxi service as well). Maraval is a fairly affluent area in the city with some very beautifu, large and expensive houses nearby. Nestled between the Maraval hills, the hotel is ...
