I recently stayed at the Ruda Holiday Park, Croyde Bay in Devon for a short break, camping, reading and drinking cider. The choice sites to stay in in Croyde isn't massive and I think that it is fair to say that Ruda has the monopoly in the area, with such a large site right on the 'Blue Flag' golden beach.
Prices were reasonable at £13 per pitch per night in July (pitches are big enough to fit 3 or 4 two man tents on, and have ample space for vehicle), £16 per Pitch for an electricity hook up. With this you get passes into the bar, for evening entertainment and use of the facilites, Hot showers and clean toilets being the most important. (showers and toilets are free)
The park also has a shop open 7am-8pm , cafe, Amusement Arcade and bar area, not to mention the park's indoor Cascades pool complex with 230ft flume and rapids ride.! lots of fun when british weather lets you down!
The site itself is very large and ideal if you have children but quiet enough if, like me, you just want to pitch a tent and have a few too many to drink before passing out on an uncomfortable airbed!
Not being a fan of organised entertainment, Nearby there is 2 very lively pubs, which serve great value food and have a wide selection. 'The Thatch' is the most famous in the area and hosts a real party on weekends.
GETTING THERE! Simple follow the M5 turning off for Barnstaple then follow the signs for Illfracombe and Croyde Bay, then follow signs for Ruda. Note though that Barnstaple has only one very small bridge to cross a river and is the only point at which it can be crossed, so avoid rush hour at all costs.
Can't beat that area for camping, or whatever you call it!! great review. Larry

I hope you went in the pool whilst you were staying there. Nothing quite like spending time in there.A not to be missed experience Think they call it Cascades. No good for swimming but a great waterslide
