Rural El Patio Hotel, Tenerife

Advantages: Quality, Family Friendly Hotel
Disadvantages: Non really, just needs to sort out the sunbed situation

...I have just got back from Tenerife and staying at the Hotel Noelia Sur. My family go to Tenerife every year and this is the second time we have stayed at the Noelia. It has always been known as a quality hotel, but like many hotels it has its blips. Our flight was with Monarch airlines and to be honest it did leave certain things to be desired. I was told to expect to pay £10.00 for the inflight meals, which basicaly are crap, but Monarch tried to hit us with a £15.00 bill for them.As there were 7 in my party, this would have been an extra £105.00. I honestly do not think there is a need for such a price, as this would bring in more than £5000 revenue for the company, just for the inflight meals. They already charge a price of £3.00 for a 330 ml can of beer that costs 60p in an off license. On top of this there is a hire charge of £1... Read review

...I used to be a holiday rep for thomson in tenefire north. The el tope was the thomson gold hotel just for couples. People pay an awful lot to stay in these places. Food was fantastic that was offered. The pool area was amazing. The best thing for me was the entertain shows that were put on for the guests by the decidated entertainers and also the reps. The el-tope biggest draw back is situated right on top of a hill and to get to the sea is a big walk down a 100 steps no good for less able. Staff are very friendly and efficient. I would recommend people staying in the el tope. Tenerife north is so much better than the south far spanish but slightly less sunny.... Read review

Advantages: Not full of British Tourists, Quiet but with nightlife.
Disadvantages: Quite windy

...sand beach on Tenerife. The others use imported sand. (The small beach local to Casa Bougainvilia is a black sand beach) The beach curves away from el Medano for about 1/2mile and finishes under the startling natural landmark of the volcanic Montana Roja (The Red Mountain). This end of the beach catches the trade winds from Africa and is consequently a haven for windsurfers and kite surfers who provide a multicoloured display of their talents whenever there is a good wind. During the last couple of years the weather seems to have changed and the wind is much more unreliable. With the advent of mass tourism in the latter half of the 20th century, the main development was further to the west at Los Cristianos and Playa De Americas with purpose built holiday accommodation in hotels and high rise apartment blocks and fuelled by package tour...
