Although Rush Travel is a private bus company, it is the one that over 100 of us use to get to and from school everyday. A few years ago it used to be reasonable. We payed our money every term and along came a coach to transport us. But now, we pay £100 a term, that's £300 a year, and we get this bangy old double decker bus which leaks. There is also no heating, so during the winter months, it is like stepping into an ice house, which normally stinks of fags as the driver has just managed to complete his box of 20 Benson. So, here you are, sitting on this rather stunning piece of rubbish, freezing cold, wet and with a foul stench in the air. What also worries me is safety. We also pick up small children from first school, and it seems to me that the drivers think that it is a race to get to school, quite happily doing about 60mph along a country road, and talking on a mobile at the same time. In the 2 and a half weeks we have been back at school, we have already had 2 accidents on the bus, one which I witnessed as the bus turned the corner so sharply and fast, that a little girl from first school fell off her seat and burst her nose which bled everywhere. Not very pleasant. Basically, Rush Travel charge extortionate prices for biscuit tins on wheels that have people off their seats and bleeding. Not very satisfactory.
i have gotten on rush travel for 8 years now and havehated every journey. if the bus isn't leaking it is breaking down or setting itself on fire. the drivers are appauling and often make rude remarks and gestures to the young girls which get on the bus. the state of the busses when we get on in the moning is also appauling as they clearly dont get cleaned and the seats are falling apart. the company clearly over charges and does not provide decent ...

Advantages: quick, easy way of travelling across london Disadvantages: people, delays
i've been living in london now for a grand total of a year and have (so far) found the tube to be fairly reliable. every now and then there's a random reason for the trains to be delayed, and usually this is perfectly timed in order to cause maximum disruption to my journey to university. but apart from that, and the fact that i only ever travel at rush hour (one of the most annoying things at the end of a loooong day is having to wait for 15 minutes for a train that's got just about enough room for you to get on), the tube is probably a good thing - without it there'd be even more cars on the roads in london, and motorists are possibly even more annoying than people on the tube. but i'd definitely recommend walking in central london wherever possible. ...
Advantages: Flies out of London City Airport Disadvantages: Can be expensive
Small and intimate airline to many destinations from an eminently convenient london city airport (only airport within zones 1,2 and 3 of the London Tube system). Major benefit of small planes means, less of the pre boarding and post landing rushes amougst travellers. One of the few airlines that still offer refreshments onboard (fruit salad, sandwich and good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages) in economy at the same or lower price as other airlines flying the same destinations. Flew regularly on Amsterdam and Manchester routes. Intra UK routes offer much more enjoyable option from booking to landing, compared to equivalent train routes; and all for a slight premium. (UK trains post privatisation , still offers incredibly bad value for money). ...
I haven't been on a ferry for ages and since the channel tunnel was completed have either used the tunnel or have flown to France. My abiding images of ferry trips are of struggling to find a seat away from screaming kids or yobs and disgusting toilets. So why did we decide to go on the ferry? Well after going through Eurotunnel, P & O and Seafrance quotes and deciding that we were in no rush and would appreciate a break in our trip from the Midlands to Le Touquet decided that the ferry would give us time for a quick lunch and a potter around the shop.
The tunnel worked out at £162 for our 2 night Friday to Sunday trip with both crossings early afternoon. Seafrance was £100 and P & O were £89. We went with P & O because of the priority loading and club lounge options which we didn't see on the Seafrance site. These options are ...
