Advantages: Very Central Location, Good Value For Money Disadvantages: 10am Checkout
When I needed to find some cheap Hotel accommodation in Nottingham City Centre a couple of Weeks ago, the Internet was the logical place to start my search. I tried the usual chains including Travelodge, but since my stay was less than one week away I quickly found that I was struggling.
Eventually I stumbled upon the Welbeck Hotel. Location wise it seemed perfect, right in the centre of the City, and price wise it was well within my budget too, and so I confirmed my Online booking.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Well to be honest the first thing that impressed me was the location. It was less than five minutes walk from the Lace Market, and well within walking distance of all of the other Shops and Attractions.
The next thing that appealed to me was the design of the building itself. It is quite a large, modern looking, Hotel on five ...
Advantages: Lovely bedrooms, large shower, bar staff friendly, luggage room to leave bags. Disadvantages: Too far from city centre, transport costs to hotel very dear, area undesirable.
My partner and I recently visited Amsterdam (in late May for 4 nights) and as I was so busy with work, left it up to him to book the hotel and take care of the details. Out of the airport we trundled a few weeks later with our cases and got into a waiting taxi. He drove us to the hotel. It took a LONG time. As he was unloading our cases with us he said "This is not a good area for you." I asked him what he meant by that. "Is not a good area and is too far to walk to town, you will have to use trams. Don't pay all the time ...
Advantages: Good location, nice rooms Disadvantages: Service and Attitude of Reception staff, Entrance
I stayed here about 3 years ago on my first visit to Nottingham. The day started with a flight down to East Midlands and then a bus to Nottingham City Centre which took about an hour. Upon arrival, my friend and i looked for accommodation around Nottingham and even went to the tourist information centre to pick up a booklet of all the accommodation options in and around the city. It was approximately 28 degrees and we looked through the booklet many times and ended up walking around for two hours in order to try and find a guest house and bed and breakfast- which there were absolutely none in the City Centre. We almost gave up hope until we came across a place called Citylodge which was in the City Centre and claimed to be "affordable luxury". Seeing as we didn't have many options other than going to a hotel, we decided to stay here ...
