I flew to Lamezia South Italy in the summer, going to work as a private English tutor for a family. I was scared enough, and when I got to Stansted I realised I had never considered being afraid of the actaul flight. The flight was late in leaving, adnt he staff weren't really very apologetic about it, but it was tipping it down with rain. This led to a terrifying takeoff, but these things aside, I would say that for the price you pay you get a very good quality of service. Complaints I have to make:
lack of leg room, which was bad as my slightly arthritic knees get cramped easily if theyre squashed up against the seat in front. So DO NOT TAKE MUCH ONFLIGHT BAGGAGE. You will live to regret it an hour into your flight.

there was no onboard meal served, which I count as a blessing because I would have had to stand up to eat it balancing my tray on the seat in front because of the lack of room. However, there was an onflight-only catalogue with dutyfree goods, from chocolate to booze to perfume to pens to anything. They even brought round a refreshments trolley like the kind on trains, which seemed strange to see on a plane 40000 feet in the air.

I kind of felt intimidated to get up to walk around because there was such little room to get up it would have been an embarrassing situation to have to squash past people in the iota of room allocated! However, on my return flight the pilot invited people to come and see his cockpit, which I thought was very nice.

The staff were really really helpful, but they all did look very very very made up in heavy makeup, the doll-like effect. They all had Irish accents too. Nice n traditional, as its an Irish airline after all.

Also you cannot use wet cell batteries on flight, so no walkmen, music, laptops, nada. Just you and a book/newspaper youve brought with you. TAKE A BOOK or youll end up learning the Ryanair catalogue off by heart or getting cramp in your neck from holding your head at a 90 degree angle so that you can watch everything moving extremely slowly past you outside and below out of the window.

All things aside, on a students budget, I think its great cos at least its not a freight plane and you have to sit on mail bags all the way there! I mean, have you looked at the website? I got my flight to South Italy for £70 instead of BA's £500. Id say its worth the dosh .. Im flying with them again.

Also you can get 10 per cent discount at Hertz cars onground cos you were a Ryanair customer. Well smart.
