I recently took a cut-price flight from Dublin to Gatwick with Ryan Air. I booked the flights online at www.ryanair.ie/com. The flights cost approximately £70 STG (online the price will be in punts if you go via the Irish site like l did). The cheapest flight l could get from Belfast to Gatwick was £200 with British European – the 2.5 hr trek from Belfast to Dublin was definitely worth £130.
ABOUT RYAN AIR
They were established in 1985 with the launch of a daily flight between WaterfordAirport to London Gatwick. In the first year, the company’s 57 employee’s carried over 5000 passengers on it s one route. Before Ryan Air was established the average price of a flight between Dublin and London was around £200 and with Ryan Air costing £70 – spot the difference!!
DESTINATIONS
Ryan Air fly out various destinations in both the United Kingdom and Europe. I thought ld give you sample – full listings can be found on the website.
Manchester Airport to Nimes, France Oslo, Norway Paris, France Pescara, Italy
Birmingham Airport to Brussels, Belgium Dublin, Ireland Gothenburg, Sweden Luton, UK Perpignan, France St. Etienne, France Venice, Italy
RYAN AIR & BIG BROTHER
As we all know everyone’s favourite housemate Brian Dowling, is an air steward for Ryan Air. In Stanstead an aircraft has been painted wishing him luck for his stay in the big brother house. Also Ryan Air are donating cash to the NSPCC for the length of time Brian stays in the house – just as well its day 64 today otherwise he might well bankrupt them!! (BTW VOTE BRIAN TO WIN – THERES STILL TIME!)
MY EXPERIENCES
Do not expect any frills with Ryan Air. As with similar airlines of Easyjet and Go-fly, it is a free seating craft. I found the legroom to be ample. Drinks were available although at a cost. From Dublin to Gatwick the flight was under an hour so really and truly you need nothing.
I must admit l liked the staff l found them friendly and helpful but not over the top or gushing.
Overall – yes l would recommend Ryan Air to everyone, especially those on a budget.

I wondered if Brian would get a mention, LOL! He'll be a big attraction if he goes back to working for them!!

you got your way, brian won, and i got cheap cocktails and free lolly pops at the local pub last friday... superb. I assume you've also spotted their twice yearly (o there abouts) £1 tickets to almost anywhere in Europe... keep checking back for the next one they do...

Good opinion. At least with Ryanair when they advertise cheap flights it is usually quite easy to get them at the low price, unlike EasyJet who, even if you book well in advance, never seem manage to sell you a cheap flight. I went to Belfast from Glasgow recently with Go and they weren't bad. They're now doing fares from Ireland to Scotland and England for as little as £12.50 single (inclusive of taxes).
