The Website To book online the website address is www.Ryanair.com. I visited this from a friends recommendation but for some reason I thought Ryanair only flew to Ireland but NO! Loads of destinations at very reasonable prices. Don't go to the website expecting 99p flights, as these are before taxes and fees. It is very easy to search for a flight by going to farefinder. Here you just enter if you want a return or single. Where you want to fly from and to and the dates. Click on search and in seconds your search results are ready to browse through. It is often worth paying to travel to a different airport if it is going to make a massive difference to the flight.
The Booking We booked a return flight from Newcastle to Milan in February. It cost £76 for 2 people return including taxes, fees and travel insurance which at less than £40 each I think is superb. You just have to follow the on screen instructions and select whether or not you want insurance, hotels etc. You then enter your card details and they send you a confirmation and Itinerary. You have to then print this off to take to the airport - you do not get any postal confirmation, which I was a bit weary about.
At the Airport When you get to the airport you just go straight to the check in desk with your luggage 2 hours prior to the flights with your printed confirmation. They then tap in some numbers and produce your boarding card. Make sure you get your confirmation back for the return flight! Same at the other end - easy as! You are allowed 15kg of luggage and 10kg of hand luggage, your hand luggage must fit in a basket that they have at check in for safety reasons.
On The Plane We got on the plane and it was a quiet flight so we could sit wherever we liked really. Picked a seat, sat down - enough leg room - great, comfortable seats, great! What more can you ask for. These were both great things as I've heard if you get a cheap flight it's real pokey but it wasn't.
There were no TVs so the safety procedure was back to the old style steward and stewardesses prancing around in the aisle! It was very rushed through and the lady was Italian so hard to understand. If you want in flight entertainment you have to hire out a hand heldTV thing for £3.50, there are a good selection of channels as I read about in the in flight magazine, but I didn't get one as our flight was only about 1hr 40mins. There were no options of in flight meals and the snacks they sell are - as with all airlines - a rip off!
The staff seemed a bit miserable but that didn't bother me because it annoys me more when they give you a great big fake cheesy smile when behind their smile you know they are cursing you for making them work. Anyway......................... The staff were a bit smilier on the way back.
Things to Buy On the flight there was the same old stuff to buy - Sunglasses, model of the plane, snacks, perfume etc.......
Landing When we landed the bags came of the conveyer belt very quickly which we were impressed with and the return journey was just as good.
Terravision We clicked through on the Ryanair website for Terravision airport transfers - these cost £9 each for transfers both ways. Which I didn't think was too bad so I booked up. WHen we landed the coach was there and it comes very regularly anyway - the same procedure happens here where you print out your confirmation and take it to a booth to get a ticket. The coach was comfortable and got us where we wanted to be. Not a lot to do with Ryanair but we booked through them and I thought I'd recommend this while I was on!
Overall I found this no better, no worse but just as good as the flights I have been on before - the cost was miles better! Definitely will look to ryanair.com first when I look to book my next trip!
