The best thing about travelling with Ryanair is that, as long as you book your flight far enough in advance, you can get a very good deal. Even when adding tax etc the prices are still a fraction of what you can pay with the other major airlines. This does, of course, depend on the time of year. Last week I did try and book up for New Year and the prices were very expensive. Their website makes it easy to book flights but the main disadvantage is their baggage allowance. Most airlines have an allowance of around 30kgs per person, Easyjet have a 20kgs allowance but Ryanair have a measly 15kgs per person. It is very easy to exceed this allowance and you are then charged 5 euros per kilo over the allowance. On my last visit, quite a few people were getting charged for excess baggage and this is obviously the way they make up for offering such cheap prices in the first place.
