I have a home in Spain so travel frequently between the UK and Spain. Always use skyscanner or some such to check on the cheapest flights.
I have no illusions about the budget airlines, survival of the fittest rules, watch your stuff carefully, have had things go missing from overhead lockers on more than one occasion and even earlier this year our grandsons buggy pinched from the tarmac after the plane landed.
However because the prices are cheap I use them but this week i found out first hand how Ryanair boost their takings.
When booking in for our flight at Stanstead it was noted by the lassie on check in that I had made an error with my husbands name.
It was a silly mistake and it was never suggested that he would not be able to travel BUT we had to pay for a name change, nothing so simple apparently as just correcting it on the list she had as it cost a breathtaking £45. Can't imagine why as it took longer to extract the required cash from my card than to give the check in girl a scrap of paper with the correct spelling.
However a lesson learned and I shall be more careful in the future, but what with their stingy baggage allowance, and the couldn't care less attitude of their staff I will use another of the cheapy airlines where possible.
