i travelled home to ireland to visit my folks in october of this year, and booked my flights with ryanair through their online booking service.
After checking every airport within travelling distance of my house i picked John Lennon International Airport as it was supposed to be 1 penny each way, but after the online fee, credit card fee and airport taxes the sum total was just short of £100.
But i travel with ryanair on a regular basis soo i'm pretty used to this, The flight over was pretty uneventfull nice information from the flight crew and the cabin crew were pleasent and helpfull and very friendly. Untill that was till my brand new hard shell trolly bag, arrived at the baggage claim!!! it looked like someone had played football with it it was scratched scuffed and marked on both sides, looks like it had been slid along a rough concrete surface. i was so unhappy i went to the ryanair desk in shannon airport and all i got was i'm sorry nothing i can do.as she was leaving to go for lunch she said i'll be back in an hour if you have time to wait!!!
And it didn't stop there on my return flight from ireland back to the u.k i boarded the flight 1st as i allways try to do being over 6feet tall there just isn't enough room in the main cabin soo i try to get a row 1 seat as there is plenty of leg room. but to my disgust the first 8 rows of seats were unavailable . T o the best of my knowledge ryanair have a free seating policy on all their flights, i ended up sat for 45mins with my knees squashed and my back in pain as i tried to find a comfortable position to sit. The cabin crew were larking around trying their best not to help the passengers the senior cabin crew had a verbal exchange with her junior saying things like they are counted what are you selling them for.
It seemed to me they just didn't want to work or do their job, upon arrival into liverpool i went to the serviceair desk to complain about my luggage all i got was three yes three ladies sat talking behind a desk looking blankly at me listening to my story , their answer was thats considered to be normal wear and tear and basically tough and have a nice day. i was very shocked this is the last straw for me and despite the cheap flighs i just may not travel with ryanair again .

Thanks for the warning! I had a similar problem with Easyjet on a flight to france with a rather nice new case, but to be honest just cudn't be bothered to queue and wait to complain........ BA are generally good though ~ sarah.
