No really, you ain't going to get concorde because....er......they don't fly anymore ...because they er.....burst into flames. Well anyway. I'm going to go out on a limb here in support of Ryanair. And be fairly short about it. I know - it'll be an unpopular choice here (indeed anywhere). People just don't seem to like them. Some reviews on here almost go as far as to suggest that Ryanair tried to murder them. On purpose. In a nutshell, I've used them 3 times in the last 4 years and they were fine.
Value for money! ************** Start with the biggy. Look here - they are cheap. Last summer we got 3 people to Italy and back for £120. For that price we are lucky to get a plane with wings. It would have been fair to assume we were going to have to stick our feet out of the bottom and run Flintstone-esque. The plane had everything you could wish for - engines, wheels, a driver. Everything. For £120. Now I like luxury as much as the next man. I'd love to be serenaded by Kylie Minogue whilst splashing in an on-board Jacuzzi with my little rubber ducky. It ain't going to happen for £120. For £120, I expect to get where I'm going alive. If I can squeeze a little bit of comfort out of that, then it's a bonus. They are EXCELLENT value for money in my opinion. You could pay 4 times as much if not more to get on BA and they'll still lose your luggage. It's not like Ryanair go anywhere that'll take longer than 3 hours so no-ones going to 'suffer' for long!
Check-in ******** Kylie sang 'locomotion' as we stood patiently in the queue. Nah, not really. This is an annoying bit - a big queue requires many staff. Not one. She worked hard, sure. But she was only one. And it took time, and it was annoying, but she did smile and was quite fit. I mean pleasant. It was as efficient as one woman can be. But I don't think you get much different with the big airlines all the time. Remember £120. She did it right - we got our bags back - but it was slooooowwwww. A word of warning - don't have excess baggage!!!! It dear/Kg! Oh, and they charge for hand-luggage now as well! They really want you to travel light.
Boarding. ******* The boarding area on our last flight with Ryan air was grotty. Dirty carpets and battered walls. I don't THINK this was because they were Ryanair though. I think it's just Liverpool airport. What I love is that you get to walk to the plane and smell the kerosene. Non of that gantry namby-pamby-ness. Unfortunately the plane was at Manchester airport 40 miles away. Well, that's a lie but it was a long walk with hand-luggage. Remember £120.
Cabin ***** Small. Very cramped. Very small again. It really is a squeeze. The cabin is a horrendous mix of blue and yellow. As are the stewards. Icky. They're Irish for God's sake. Where's the green? And it's not exactly clean either. I think they get about half-an-hour to turn the planes round and it shows. They should employ little leprechauns to get under the seats and scrub. But once I'd thrown my crud all under the seats and floor space I couldn't see the mess. Remember £120.
Flight ***** The rather smile-free steward showed us what to do just before we die as usual. Then they ran up and down the aisle mid-flight with a trolley of expensive stuff such as crisps. No in-flight meal here guys - bring sandwiches. Or entertainment. Bring entertaining sandwiches. If you feel inclined, you can buy a lottery ticket. Who's going to do that when they could die any moment? Do it when you land and people might pay-up because they'll feel happier to be alive. All in all, flights are dull and you feel like you're trapped in a blue and yellow sausage. Remember £120.
Overall ****** OK, it's rubbish. You won't have fun. But you'll get to Italy and back cheaper than you can get to London one-way. For 3 people. If you pay buttons you'll get crud so don't expect to be treated like royalty. If you just want to get there because it's the only way you can afford to get there then this is fantastic!!!! Don't knock it!

Absolutely agree with you - I've used Ryanair and the other cheapies numerous times with no problems - using cheap airlines often means I can stay in better hotels! Paula
