SH Ifach, Calpe

Advantages: Nice weather, pretty cheap
Disadvantages: Almost like being home because of a large Norwegian community

...community located just north of Benidorm. As far as I understand it belongs to the town of Alfaz del Pi and it is located right next to Altea. When looking north we could see the characteristic rock formation at Calpe. The rock is known as Peñon de Ifach and I’ll get back to that later on. Albir seems to be a Norwegian community: it was possible to go down to the local bookstore and buy all the major Norwegian newspapers, at different restaurants menus were in Norwegian, property companies like the Norwegian Notar have offices there, you can buy Norwegian food at the local super market etc. Albir has a long beach nice beach but be aware of the fact that it is not a sandy beach. Advantages: Small / Medium sized town
Disadvantages: 40 mins from airport - hire car needed

...This is a SHORT review This is a little known town about 20 mins north of Benidorm. In total about 40 -45 mins from Alicante airport. You need a hire car if your going to stay in Calpe. To my knowledge there are no Package holidays here. There are hotels in Calpe though!!. We use my Aunties villa when we stay there and have been going there as a family for in excess of 20 years. The town / beaches etc are one of those places that you just warm too and fall in love with. The town has mainly 2 beaches. Both very clean and safe for families. It's also home to a huge rock which you can climb to get magnificent views accross the bays. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in Calpe and the outskirts. Supermarkets are easily found too. Been approx 3 years since I last went but I can seriously recommend his place as a genuine... Read review

Advantages: A good all round holiday destination. Lovely places nearby and excellent climate.
Disadvantages: Has a bad reputation with some people. I'm NOT there now and it isn't fair!

When we were there Elton John was doing a Concert to celebrate the official opening of the tallest building in Benidorm (and I think in Europe), a really big luxury hotel that can be seen from miles away! OUT AND ABOUT FURTHER AFIELD Terra Mitica~~~ We were looking forward to going to Terra Mitica, the new theme park that has opened nearby. I can’t tell you much about it because I have already written about it in another opinion ~ don’t want to stop you reading that one too! I will tell you that it is divided into themed regions; Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and the Islands. The theme is based on mythology and it’s really interesting and well worth a visit.
