Advantages: Quiet location, lovely hotel, brilliant food, private beach. Disadvantages: Quite expensive and could be a bit quiet.
parents and younger brother were going as well! With the remainder of my student loan already exhausted by a weekend break with my University friends it seemed like the best proposal I was going to get this summer.
My parents chose the sunny island of Majorca for our destination and the hotel Riu Palace Bonanza Playa. The island of Majorca is the largest of the three Balearic Islands and is located in the Mediterranean Sea off the south east coast of mainland Spain. The primary language spoken in Majorca is Spanish although many of the inhabitants speak English and German also to accommodate the large tourist influxes from both of these countries. The capital of the island is the cosmopolitan and fairly large city of Palma which also houses the islands airport, flight times are roughly 2-3 hours from the UK. The currency used ...
Advantages: Short flight, English widely spoken, beautiful beaches, great nightlife, I could go on forever Disadvantages: You have to come home
I have been to Majorca twice in the last three years. On the first occasion, I went with my husband and our two children who were 4 and 2 at the time. We chose Majorca because of the relatively short flight time of two hours. We stayed in Alcudia at the Marte Hotel which is in an all inclusive complex which also includes the hotels Jupiter and Saturno. We went in the second and third weeks of May. The first week was very unsettled, rainy and windy, but the second week was beautiful and the temperature got warmer by the day. The resort of Alcudia is very busy but geared more for families rather than singles. The beach is sandy and very clean.
We hired a car locally for a week and I think this was probably one of the best decisions we made. Car hire is very cheap. We paid about the same amount for a whole week's car hire as ...

Menorca/Minorca♥
I thought that, in order to talk about the resort, Sa Caleta Playa I would need to just brief you on the island. Minorca is a small island and it?s one of the Balearics. Its neighbour is Majorca but it is nothing like Majorca. You can drive around Minorca in a day because it is so small. Minorca still has its traditional features and it nowhere near as ?touristy? as Ibiza of Majorca.
Sa Caleta Playa Background info♥
Sa Caleta Playa is located in the town of Sa Caleta. This is a very small town about a 40 mins drive from the island?s capital- Cuidadella. Sa Caleta Playa is a First choice travel; agent resort. It is fairly small and right next to the beach. The apartments are pretty much in a row ...
For some of the best-tasting regional cuisine, and to escape the heat of Palma, we like to head directly west of the city to the satellite village of Gčnova. Here, in the attractive dining rooms of a hacienda, you can enjoy typical local cuisine served by a helpful staff. Sopas mallorquinas (the island's famed vegetable soup) begins many a meal here. The chef obviously loves cod, and he cooks it superbly in at least 10 different preparations. If you're traveling with friends, you might want to order some of the best suckling pig or roast baby lamb in Majorca. While not quite as tantalizing as versions served in Old Castile, the dish is rewarding, especially when the weather is cool. On hotter days, you may prefer one of the local fish dishes, including (our favorite) monkfish in a shellfish sauce. Paella is served with dried salt cod and vegetables, an unusual variation on this classic dish. A series of homemade desserts, including ice cream, is a special feature.
