every photo that i have evr seen of the sacre coeur has made it out to be some inner city idyll. that it is not. when you stand at the bottom of the hill it is on it look magnificient but as you ascend there is more and more rubbish, there are more and more vendors who want to take cash off your hands and the place becomes less andless of an idyll. finally when you reach the top, there is a rathr large road before the temple which detracts from the grassy hill you have just ascended. it is unquestionably beautiful but the place and the fountains are full of litter. for the best bet, proceed on to the montmartre artists around the corner. it is much nicer there.
