Advantages: Good history and historic sites Disadvantages: lack of decent shops
...Salisbury is not a shoppers paradise if that is what your expect, but there is alot a lot to do there if you a tourist or intrested in the history of towns, becuase Salisburys main attraction has to be its Catherdral which can be seen well before you enter the city. The city has a wide range of pubs and restuarants, but really only one main club The Chapel. If you want to buy new cloths then i would recommeneb other towns and cities such as Southampton or Bournemouth. If you cannot drive or you do not have your own transport then that is ok as Salisbury has a excellent public transport system....

Advantages: A stunningly beautiful town Disadvantages: Very busy with summer tourists
...I dream of days gone by when I was lucky enough to live in Salisbury. I now live in London and have to get my regular fix of my favourite cathedral city in the form of long weekends spent at one of Salisbury's wonderful hotels. A great favourite is the Old Mill at Harnham which actually boasts a water wheel inside it's restaurant!
My favourite part of the City is the Cathedral Close, not just because of the Cathedral with it's impressive 403 foot spire, but because of the tranquil village atmosphere. It's difficult to imagine that you are in the heart of a city!
Salisbury has a great shopping centre, with it's collection of unusual shops mixed in with the usual High Street stores. It's worth taking the time to wander around - i'm sure you'll find something to suit every taste and pocket.
A visit to the Cinema is a must! It...

...I went to NewYork, New York for the first time during the last week of March. I really enjoyed it, but I'm still paying it off! Too many shops led to far too much bending of the old plastic. Don't go there if you can't control your spending :-) The whole of 5th Avenue is just far too dangerous ;-)
First we stayed in a hotel on 57th street called The Washington Jefferson, but it was a horrible dump. We booked it over the internet so we didnt really get much of an idea about it, and at $99 a night (for a single room), it was the cheapest would could find. We didnt stay there long and soon moved a bit further up town and found a great place called The SalisburyHotel just opposite Planet Hollywood. That was infinately better!!! I recommend that hotel to anyone - it costs a bit more but the difference is amazing.
Entertainment wise theres...

The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
If you want to stay in Central New York then this is the hotel to book. It is actually IN Times Square! It's a huge modern hotel with over 45 floors so some of the views are great. There is a bar at the top which is a lovely place to have a drink,... more
Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
