Salou's main beach is four miles long with further quiter beaches and coves just around the headlands. They all face to the south-east and that is why the beaches are so warm and golden. The resort is also protected inland by the Catalunyan mountains which makes the resort's climate very stable. There is Port Aventura, a massive theme park thats part of Universal Studios. The theme park is an absolute must for anyone into this sort of thing, with a good collection of roller coasters and water rides. Plus, it has everything else you expect of a theme park. There are many restaurants and tapas bars that stay open till late at night, these serve well priced meals and excellent food.
La Pineda, a newer resort, six miles north of Salou has an Aquaruim water park which is hugely popular for children. Catalunya is famous for it's golf courses and there are two in the nearby region including one in Reus near the airport.
Trip to Barca is a must! Forget the reps trip, its massively overpriced -50 euros! We got the Bus Plana excursions -19-24 euros. Remember you can hop on and off at all the main sights. Brilliant... don't miss the dancing fountains in the evening. Also well worth a good look are the Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera, the Olympic Stadium, Park Guell and best of all if you're a footy fan, the Nou Camp. Look out for the holographic photograph on the pitch at Nou Camp. Tourist information is underground at Placa Catalunya and they are very helpful. Shopping in Barca is fantastic also, particularly around Las Ramblas.
All in all Salou is well worth a visit there is plenty to see and do so you'd never be bored.
