Sam Lords Castle Barbados. I was married in Barbados on 25th Feb 2000 at Sam Lords Castle; this was my second attempt at marriage and also my husband to be. So we decided to go away somewhere warm and inviting and do the wedding bit just for us instead of the worry of inviting hundreds of guests and all the hassle that goes with it. Having recently travelled to barbados, I would like to share my now fond memories of a really beautiful place, Sam Lords Castle. Get your timbers nicely shivered, because Sam Lord was a pirate, and a very bad man. Legend has it he lured ships this way with torches, so that they would get shipwrecked on the rocks. He would then loot the ship, the naughty man. You can read about him and his mistresses in the hall of the historic casle that forms the centrepiece of the resort. The resort around the castle was supposed to be our accomodation for 2 weeks. The place is a very attractive resort and this is mainly due to the great upkeeping by the Marriot Group. The actual castle is one of the highlights of the island, simply because of its grandure compared to the rest of the island's tourist sites as well as the legend of Sam Lord and his pirate ways. However when you get inside the castle it looks like a mini stately home. It isn't very big at all. Sure the views are very nice but the pictures can be very deceiving.
