Sam's Giardino Hotel, Swakopmund

Advantages: Really pleasent surroundings
Disadvantages: A $20 dollar fare from the strip

...Sams Town although away from the strip is really good. The casino cheap enough to stay and play for ages and ages. The receiption area is full of trees and a stream with a fantastic light and water show. The show takes on one end of the receiption area against a huge rock face. Where there are bears (mechanical and stuffed) but very authentic, howling wolves. There are seats in amongst the wooded reception, with a bar and cafe serving drinks while you wait for the next show. The gaming in the casino though is cheap and there are lots of cheaper slots, which pay out quite well. The table games are a reasonable price to, but as with most of the hotels depending how busy they are depends on the minimum bet but generally the tables were from about $5 during the day going up to miniums of $10 at night. Advantages: Amazing weather,great views ,good nightlife.

...Swakopmund is Namibia's famous seaside resort and is located between the Namib Desert and the Atlantic coastline. The town is picturesque with many graceful turn-of-the century buildings and feels reminiscent of a small Bavarian village. The town has a number of curiosities such as the steam engine which arrived in 1896 to provide a rail link with Windhoek. After a few months it got bogged down on the spot where it still stands today as a national monument. It was named 'Martin Luther' after the evangelist's famous statement "here I stand, God help me, I cannot do otherwise".
