Kefalonia is one of the small Greek islands, offering picturesque scenery, clear blue seas and not to mention peace! One of the hotels on the island is the Princess. It's located about 25 minutes from the airport and is only 300 meters from the nearest shop / supermarket. The beach is located at about 500 meters. You only have to look at the pictures (http://www.princesshotel.gr) of the hotel to understand where you'll be staying. A small hotel having only 40 bungalow style rooms means you won't be bumping into hundreds of people! It has a large pool with enough sun beds for nearly every guest. ...Last June my wife and I visited this beautiful island in the Ionian group. We spent a week in Scala in the south of the island. When visiting Kefalonia, a must is to hire a car. You can see virtually the whole island in 2 or 3 days. You will see a beautiful coastline dotted with some of the prettiest bays and beaches in the greek islands. Although mainly pebbles there are several sandy beaches to enjoy. Have a chat to your car rental agent on the island as they are very helpful and will advise you on the best places to visit. We drove anti-clockwise round the island from our base in Scala visiting many tranquil villages along the way and taking in the spectacular scenery of fir-lined mountains and hills. Advantages: Great food, scenery, quiet, fantastic beaches

...I went to Kefalonia for a week at the beginning of July 2005. The weather was very hot and dry, about 39 degrees celsius, which for me was too hot. The locals said the weather was usually well over 40 degrees at that time of year. I went to the resort of Skala with Kosmar. Airport transfer was just over an hour but take travelsick pills , as it's a journey with a lot of hairpin bends. My accommodation was the Michalis Studios in Skala. These were quite basic with a kitchenette (no kettle, so bring a travel kettle), and separate bedroom and balcony. The only problem I found with the accommodation was that there was no air-conditioning and in July, that makes it impossible to sleep at night. There were a lot of mosquitoes in the room if you left the windows open (you had to do this as it was very stuffy), so bring one of those plug... Read review
