Advantages: Location, cheaper rooms, All the basics Disadvantages: Not as glitzy as its neighbours
...I stayed here on a stag week in June 2007 and we could not really have asked for more from a hotel in terms of a base to see Sin City. Location is excellent, right on the strip and walking distance to MGM, New YorkNewYork, Caesars Palace and the Bellagio.
The rooms are standard fare, no real glitz and glamour but to be honest when you are in Vegas you aren't spending a lot of time in the room! The Casino is ok, nothing great but again you have access to every other casino on the strip. We saw the hotel show which was Lance Burton. A good show but probably not as good as a show in say Caesars.
Lets be honest here, you stay at the Monte Carlo because it is cheaper than the other hotels on the Strip and so you have more tokens to fritter in the casinos!
It has all the basics you need for a base from which to explore Fabulous Las Vegas...

...My husband and I travelled the West Coast of the States last year and basically camped out everywhere and hit every National Park. The one city we definitely scheduled was San Francisco. We had both been there before and loved it. The skyline is excellent, the transportation is good and fun (the cable cars are actually a national landmark there), and the food terrific. Chinatown was a real experience. We did try camping on one of the mountains just outside the city, and it was fun, but we had a much better time the nights we stayed in the city. It's as busy as New York but much cleaner and safer. If you go, don't forget to visit the sea lions on the wharves!...

Advantages: great city with loads to see and do Disadvantages: very hilly-u have to be fit to be able to walk around the city
...i went to san francisco with my family in the summer as part of a tour of the major cities in the USA (Newyork, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas) and this was definately my favourite place.
The trams are as old and delicate as they look but it feels really sepcial to be on a national landmark as famous as they are. We had a ticket which meant that we could travel on these whenever we wanted over two days, which meant we could experience them aswel as travel around the city with far more ease than walking-i would definately recommend purchasing this ticket, which we did once we reached the city. It is inexpensive and worth the cost as it saves so much on the tram and bus fares.
Alcatraz island, where the prisoners used ot live was the highlight of my trip however. Definately go on this trip, just to be able to walk arund...

If you want to stay in Central New York then this is the hotel to book. It is actually IN Times Square! It's a huge modern hotel with over 45 floors so some of the views are great. There is a bar at the top which is a lovely place to have a drink,... more
The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
