to zoo or not to zoo?
Review of San Diego Zoo, San Diego by jude76

Advantages: World remowned Zoo
Disadvantages: Colchester Zoo better!

San Diego zoo is reputed to be amongst the best, if not the best zoo in the world - but I beg to differ. I mention in my title that Colchester Zoo is better. I truly believe this for a number of reasons. The enclosures for a start. I was most disappointed with the size of some of the enclosures at SD Zoo. For example, the lion enclosure, whilst fantastic at not having to peer through glass or behind wire, was very small, yet interesting. The lions ...
...After that it's good ole San Diego atmosphere only. Surely this has to be confusing!!! There is a skyfari - cable cars take you from one side to the other. A great way of getting a different view of the zoo. I would also recommend you do the bus tour, just to familiarize yourself with lay out of the place. Do walk this zoo - it may be steep which will be a problem if you have mobility issues or very small children - as it is a great way to work ... Read review

Had a great time at Sea World.
Review of Sea World, San Diego by casnz

Advantages: The exhibits and shows
Disadvantages: too much to see in one visit.

...without seeing the famous California Sea World. It had been a long day already with a morning trip over the border to Tijuana, so it was getting on to 4.30pm when we pulled up at the Sea World carpark. It was Sunday afternoon of Memorial Weekend and crowds of people were pouring out of the park with their tired looking kids in tow. I think we timed it quite well as it turned out as the park seemed less crowded than I had been anticipating. As this ...
...Most definitely the highlight of Sea World. Shamu is the Killer Whale who performs with the trainer in a stunning show. We arrived about 15 minutes before the show was due to start so headed to the observation tanks and watched two of these magnificent creatrues at close quarters. They were coming right up to the viewing glass and checking everybody out just as much as we were checking them out. We headed in to get a seat, once more heading high ... Read review

The not so "Rocky Balboa" (its just beautiful)
Review of Balboa Park, San Diego by stinkbadger

Advantages: magnificent architecture, lots to do, peaceful
Disadvantages: not good if you want do something energetic or exciting

...is the beautiful, much overlooked Balboa Park. I have been here twice and really enjoyed it both times. More of an old town of museums, restaurants, gardens and wonderful architecture, than a park there will undoubtedly be something for everyone here. Area Located in El Prado, San Diego buses to and from the park are both frequent and reliable. As the park is located right next to the San Diego Zoo, signs to the park are frequent and easy to follow. ...

See This Magical World
Review of Seaworld, California by belfin

Advantages: Lots to see and do
Disadvantages: Not allowed to take your own food or drink inside.

***Background*** Before heading off on honeymoon in the States, there wasn't really a lot of the trip that we made definite plans for. However, when it came to the attractions in San Diego and LA we really struggled to decide what we wanted to do, because the choices are plentiful. My hubby is a big film fan so Universal Studios had to be on the list, not so much for the big rides but for the studio tours and behind the scenes bits that you get. ...
...we noticed that it was possible to get a 14 day flex ticket that would enable us to come and go between Universal in LA and Sea World in San Diego. We had heard that both parks took more than one day each to explore properly and this seemed a good option, as it was also cheaper than it would have been to buy separate tickets for a day's entry. The online site we used was called Attractiontix and as tickets are sent to you via email there are no ... Read review
