Not a peaceful stay...

Advantages: In beautiful San Diego
Disadvantages: Noisy labor dispute disturbs stay

Since May 2009, workers have regularly picketed outside this hotel, making lots of noise. This picketing comes as a result of hotel's unwillingness to treat its workers fairly with adequate wages, pension plans and healthcare benefits. Because of this labor dispute these workers have worked with a contract since November 2007! If you're looking for a place to have a calm and relaxing vacation and you do not want to cross a picket line, DO NOT stay ...

Embassy Suites

Advantages: Good service, and amenities
Disadvantages: A long way from anything

Embassy Suites On a recent visit to California, I was booked into this hotel because it was close to places I had to visit for work. The hotel itself is only a short drive from the airport (it took about half an hour in a hire car, and not knowing where I was going) and is located in La Jolla which is apparently quite an affluent area, featuring banks and houses and hotels as well as restaurants and a rather nice shopping mall. It's easy to drive ...
...is valet parking in the high rise car park, but I just parked round the back of the hotel. Once inside the hotel, check in was quick and efficient and I was immediately impressed with the well set out entrance lobby featuring some nice little touches such as plentiful flowers. The reception desk is large and well staffed and also in the lobby is a concierge desk where there is usually a concierge to be found, who is excellent at giving information ...

Love Handles??? Handle This On Honeymoon!!!

Advantages: We were treated like stars.
Disadvantages: Nothing really.

...going to Thomas Cook, The Handlery in San Francisco was on our shortlist. Of course we decided on the much more luxurious Westin St Francis to start off our honeymoon trip but when we were informed in Thomas Cook that there was one in San Diego, we were more than happy to give it a go. Week stay within Manchester Grand Hyatt

Advantages: Very Large - good location
Disadvantages: Poor staff - hyatt gold passport membership ignored

Decided to travel around California staying with either Hyatt or Hilton (am a Diamond Hyatt member & Gold Hilton member). Booking On booking our stay via the internet (hyatt.com) - we reserved a standard room with a kings size bed. Decided to contact customer services explaining our requirements in advance (due to allergies). Arrival Travelled into Linchberg airport (San Diegos main airport) and taxi ride was $15 with a nice tip. Greeted by ...
...didn't offer any assistance with the luggage. Main foyer is amazing - very large; high ceilings and polished floor. Hotel was very quiet with not many guests walking around. Desk staff stated that Regency Club floor was closed and I was to stay in the Seaport tower (23rd floor). Was offered a small bottle of wine & some cookies to be sent to my room. IS THIS THE LINE FOR THE TIJUANA TAXI?

Advantages: Vast, opulent, breathtaking, central to downtown
Disadvantages: You might feel overwhelmed. Can be expensive
