I managed to kick the Ciao habit last month when the site was having technical problems. Unfortunately I get these cravings to go back on.
I think the new layout and stats are great.
My aim still is to write VH ops, SLOWLY, based on the collected...

If anyone is thinking of visiting San Francisco then I have a tip which will save you money in an otherwise expensive city and help you do the things tourists want to do as easily as possible. My tip is that you buy a Citypass ticket at the first tourist attraction listed below.
This ticket gives you unlimited city travel by bus, streetcar or the famous cablecars for 7 consecutive days from the date of first use as well as admission to 5 main attractions including Alcatraz. Another major feature is that there is no further time wasted waiting in queues to buy more tickets.
The other attractions included on the ticket are: the Exploratorium, the California Academy of Sciences, the Palace of the Legion of Honor, and the SF Museum of Modern Art.
There are a number of points to bear in mind when buying a Citypass and using it.
One thing to note is that the admission tickets last up to 9 days which does not tie up with the 7 days travel.
A second point is that the Alcatraz tour (which includes the ferry) has to be requested at purchase time. I bought mine at the Alcatraz tour office but even then I had to specifically request the Alcatraz option as the default seemed to be a ferry trip round the bay. This involved some extra hassle for the clerk but did not cost me anything. Also be aware that the Alcatraz trip is popular and you may have to book a few days in advance depending on the time of year.
Also watch out for attractions being closed - rare, but mostly on a Monday.
I won't subject you to another tourist's guide to San Francisco as other quality Ciao opinions have been written which do the job extremely well. My only other recommendation is the DK Eyewitness Guide as a guidebook to this wonderful city.
I visited in November 2000 and had a week of wonderful weather and sightseeing. The Citypass made things easy and I could hop on and off public transport, which was excellent, by showing the pass. Some drivers will check the date but most just give a brief glance.
More information on the Citypass is available at www.citypass.com. The information on selecting the Alcatraz tour is still confusing as it is suggesting an extra fee and extra booking rigmarole.
I would not recommend buying the Citypass on the net for this reason but instead buy it in San Francisco where you can sort out any confusion face-to-face.
I hope you found this opinion helpful. Please rate accordingly and feel free to comment.

Advantages: Small enough to walk around - Big enough to get lost in. Disadvantages: Someone - maybe Mark Twain - said that the worst winter he ever spent was summer in San Francisco. The weather can be...strange.
