Laid Back Sophistication.
Review of San Francisco (California) by rustisalive

Advantages: Class, style, elegance, location.
Disadvantages: Price, snobbery.

...The Clift Hotel in downtown San Francisco is an experience one should witness providing of course you are beautiful enough to enter. Notably the ''Redwood Room'' a high class bar in a very congenial atmosphere. Once past the host who may vet you, the bar staff are actually very friendly and although the drinks are expensive by American standards, it's certainly worth it - about $ 15.00 for a glass of pinot noir. For a pretentious eating and drinking ...
...an awful lot of disposable income floating around. Seating is most comfortable, laid back in a red leather sofa one has a terrific vantage point of observing the varied clients - groups of pornstars, celebs, jack and jill on honeymoon, sailors just arrived at port, gigalos etc, etc, etc. ... San Francisco, a cosmopolitan wonder
Review of San Francisco in general by BlueAngel

Advantages: Friendly, Cosmopolitan, Varied
Disadvantages: Can't think of any

...nice and we should try San Francisco. We were so glad we followed their advice. San Francisco is a very warm and inviting city. You never seem to get that edgy feeling that can be felt in some big American cities. San Francisco is so cosmopolitan you could wear anything down the street and noone would look twice. The hotels all seem to be quite tidy and friendly. The pubs and clubs are superb and the eating is out of this world, especially if you ...
...normal touristy trap with the San Fran seals there for a bit of realism. My favourite part of San Francisco was the Chinatown tour. We booked it through our Virgin holiday rep and were led round the quite large district by Ray. The meal before the tour was of very good quality but the tour itself was outstanding. Ray took us to the parts of Chinatown you wouldn't normally see. It was quite an eye-opener. In summary, San Francisco was more than ... Read review

If your going to San Francisco
Review of Getting around in San Francisco by andycharger

Advantages: A Great city full of life and fun
Disadvantages: Expensive

...where you want to go. Getting around the city is best done n either a Tram or trolley bus. The trams cost 2 dollars a ride but you can get a day pass for about 6 dollars. Unlimited use for the day and you get to see a lot of the city. Expect to be a bit crowded. Walking is an option from Union Square but its very hilly so expect to get tired. Taxis are expensive and slow in the traffic. Eating Out. ----------- Eating can be cheap but most places ...
...and at a good price. There is lots of it too. The Italian cafes are very nice to eat in. If you would like to sit outside though, you must book in advance. Tables inside are freely available. Around the Square there are many nice Steak Houses and burger bars. Some cheap, others not so. Shop around. Lori's Diner can come highly recommended. Planet Hollywood is also nice to eat and not as busy as the one in London. Tables are not a problem. Down ... Read review

An Early Aw The Best
Review of Chinese New Year - Feb by Squidget

Advantages: Good preparation will always mean a good year
Disadvantages: All the good Chinese take aways are closed at this time of year

Chinese New Year, also called the Spring Festival, is the time of year when friends and family feast in celebration of throwing out the old and welcoming in the new – something we could all do with every now and then. Most people start getting ready for Chinese New Year a month before. It is important to have all bills paid and the house spring-cleaned ready for a fresh start. Start the New Year with the house in a mess and your account in the red ...
...months! Traditionally Chinese New Year was a month long party, now it tends to last four or five days. Food is extremely important and before it is eaten it is offered up to the Gods. Food at the feasts can vary, but it normally includes steamed puddings, fried dumplings, seeds, rice balls and sweetened fruit and vegetables. Remember, however, that the ingredients have a symbolic meaning. Jiaozi dumplings, for example, are boiled in water and served ... Read review

~SF...Surprisingly Fabulous Summer Fun~
Review of San Francisco (California) by digitalenvironmentalist

Advantages: A very tourist-friendly metropolitan area
Disadvantages: None, except that you really have to stay longer

...some part of California State. San Francisco is one of them for the very first time. A month prior to my departure from Britain, I contacted my friend working in San Francisco with an IT firm if I could stay at his place during my short visit. Being a close friend and the godfather of his only daughter, he did not hesitate to answer 'yes' to my request. So, my accommodation for few days at the city is completely ok except that I will be travelling ...
...San Diego by car) to Los Angeles, and then finally from San Fernando Valley to SF. To save some dollars during my trip, I decided to travel by bus (Greyhound) which took me more than 10 hours along the road, having a two-day stop in San Fernando Valley (LA) and had a quick visit to the Universal Studios. Well, within that long journey it took the bus more than 6 hours to reach SF from San Fernando Valley. But it was a quick journey from the bus station ... Read review
