...the bay! Bubba Gumps is a themed restaurant, based on the Forest Gump movie. Bubba was Forest's friend and the two of them planned on having their own Shrimp boat when they got out of Vietnam. This restuarant stretches the theme by pretending to be a restaurant thats part of the Bubba Gump empire. The restaurant's are decorated like fishing shacks, and they host a lot of memorabilia from the movie. To get attention for another drink or any thing ... ...from "Run Forest Run" to "Stop Forest Stop" and ANY waiter/waitress will help you if the Stop sign is showing. But back to reality. What's it really like? The food is predominately seafood, but you can get burgers, steak, ribs, etc too. Portions are large and prices are reasonable. Review of Kowloon
Advantages: The food is good. Disadvantages: The service is unfriendly.
...have lived very near the Java Beach Cafe for 5 years now and though the food is good and service satisfactory at best, their attitude is phenomenally lousy! The location is excellent, a corner lot across from the beach with an outdoor seating area. Alcohol is sold and especially on nice day, I'm sure they do very well because they have no competition; the nearest other place to get coffee is 7/11 3 blocks uphill. The thing the customers talk about ... ...be tripled if they at least acted like they enjoyed what they do.
If you want some wonderful food in a comfortable environment served by the some of the most surly and sour faces you've ever seen, go to Java Beach. You have to see it to believe it! ...

For those who do not know the name of the restaurant is not coincidental to the name of the company created by Forest Gump in the film of the same name. Instead the whole restaurant plays homage to the film with the main dining room decorated with script pages, storyboards, costumes, ... ...If you hated the film stop reading here as there are better restaurants in San Francisco which sell the same sorts of Food. Go here for he experience and fun that the place generates.
