Last October, my husband and I set off for Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort, not sure what to expect or whether it would live up to all its hype. On arrival you are presented with a glass of champage, and checked into your room. One of our suitcases has not arrived at the airport, and the staff said when it did arrive they would deliver it to our room, which they did the following day. The room was lovely. On our second morning i discovered a crack in the bath with water disappearing down through the floor. I complained and they had someone come and check it out, they offered us another room, which was the same but further down the corridor, i asked if i could be upgraded for the inconvenience and we were given a superior room. No problems at all. The staff were very friendly and ever so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Although the mini bar was topped up daily we had run out of cokes and tomato juice, and like a magician out of a hat cokes and tomato juice appeared in the mini bar. The snorkelling was good, although it was a bit rough out at sea for my first time snorkelling, but it was all free. The Beauty parlour was excellent, although i wasn't allowed, because of illness, to have massage, I should have had a letter from my GP to say it was ok, i had a facial, manicure, pedicure, my husband had a mud bath, and a massage and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was such a variety of food, enough to please even the picky eaters. We thought it was wonderful and would recommend it to anyone. Even the pictures of the ocean were the exact colour of the ocean, translucent green/blue. The nightlife, was ok, not that we saw much of it, we are morning birds, not night hawks, but the restaurants were open until late and there was music, dancing, cinema, plus the variety of bars around the site, even a traditional english pub, we had a few games of snooker to pass the time and pool. So there was something for most people, but i would imagine not everyone would enjoy the quiet relaxed atmosphere and prefer the noisy biz of Blackpool to the quiet ambience of Sandals. We can't wait until we can afford to go back again. We hardly spent any money, except in the Straw Market, in downtown Nassau, and of course the Jewellers.
