We stayed here in January/February 2007. This is the secind time we stayed here. The first time was about 4 years ago when we booked as part of a package through Airtours. This time we booked the flights and accomadation independently and saved a lot of money.
Our flights were on scheduled aircraft. London Heathrow to Gran Canaria via Madrid with Iberia. The return with Iberia to Madrid and British Airways to Heathrow.
There are a choice of 1 bed bungalows(which we booked last time) and 2 bed bungalows, which we had this time. The bungalow was roomy. The lounge had double glazed double doors onto the patio which was huge, it covered two sides of the property. There was a sideboard type unit which had a portable TV (which was coin operated) There were a few channels you could watch including Sky News.
The seperate kitchenette was long and narrow, with a dinning table at the end. There was a 4 ring electric cooker, kettle and toaster and cuttlery/crockery for 4 people. On the wall there was a small boiler for hot water.
The bathroom had a toilet, sink and shower in white percelean. The shower was screened off with a fixed shower screen. There was no shower tray the water went down a plug hole in the floor. The water pressure was not great and the water didn\'t not keep hot for very long. Not even enough to give you a quick shower. Therfore we had to space our four showers out between 4pm & 7pm!!
The two bedrooms were an good size, both had wardrobes and a chest of drawers. One room had a double bed the other had two singles. In one bedroom there was a safe for valuables. The key was available for the duration of your stay from reception on payment of a deposit.
There was a maid service everyday, except Sunday, towels were changed daily and bed linen twice weekly. The maids were very good even tidying up clothes left lying around.
There are two nice sized pools with plenty sun loungers. There is a pool bar situated between both. On big let down is the pools are not heated! So only a big toe was ever in the pool! This may not be a problem in high summer but in January & February it is a bit of a let down.
The reception staff are friendly and helpful. They speak a little english and can make themsleves understoood as well as understanding us. This time on holiday I lost my mobile phone in taxi on way from airport. They quickly called both taxi companies that work out of the airport to see if it had been found, unfortunately if hadn\'t.
There is a small shop outside the complex it sells a variety of esssential items for your stay. There is also a fantastic greek restaurant (Greek Village is the name, I think) It was very very nice, so much that we dined there 3 times during or stay.
The beach is quite a bit away. Probably a good ten minute walk, downhill. There you can participate in the usual watersport activities or hire a sun lounger and top up your tan. The beach is nice and sandy and the water doesn\'t get too deep too quickly. The sea wasn\'t as cold as the pools! There are plenty stalls & restaurants along the beach front as well as the \"looky looky\" men. We didn\'t seem to get the same amount of hard sell for dinner here as you get in Teneriffe but maybe that is because it was the height of summer we when he stayed there.
