Costa Smeralda costs a fortune!
Review of Santa Teresa di Gallura, Porto Cervo, Costa Smeralda, Sardinia by jo145

Advantages: Beautiful beaches and rugged scenery
Disadvantages: Expensive around Costa Smeralda

...the real Sardinia. Santa Teresa di Gallura We drove on through wonderful rock formations and tree and shrub lands to Santa Teresa di Gallura, although to us it was a small town it actually was a little city and is the most northerly community in Sardinia. The area of Gallura is mainly granite, and its name comes from the word gallo meaning cock, the heraldic beast of the Pisan family who ruled this region. Originally called Longo Sardo, it changed ...
...of Vittorio Emanuele I. The beach is perfect for swimming, and sunbathing and surfers and divers like this area. There are several shops, bars, and cafes and although we didn't stay into the evening we were told the nightlife is busy. There are several campsites in the area and some smaller hotels. A few trees provide some shade around benches in a square when old men sat and smoked, watching the tourists strolling by, and a church bell rang disturbing ... Read review

DID NOT SEE NEPTUNE
Review of Neptune's Grotto (Grotta di Nettuno), Alghero, Sardinia by poshtroika

Advantages: Nature in one of its beautiful forms
Disadvantages: 300 STEPS if using the BUS.

We visited the Grotto while on a mini break to Alghero. We took one of the Boat Trips from in front of the Old Town Walls, easy to find. Be aware that most of the Boat Trips do not include the Entrance fee into the Grotto which you pay on arrival. It is possible to catch a local Bus, the draw back being when you arrive you are on Top of the Cliff and there are about 300 steps down, then of course 300 STEPS BACK UP. The boat docks in the Mouth ...
...easy going. If you like Staligtites and mites then you will love the experience. Spectacular formations well presented and lit. It is not a circular tour you retrace the same route out as in. I would recommend the Boat way, not just because of the 300 Steps, but theres that chance of seeing Dolphins. You get the feeling that Tourism is still catching on in Alghero. A lovely resort for a stress free break out of season. ... Read review

...tetrastyle atrium", a villa belonged to a noble family with an atrium and four white columns. --------------------------What else to see----------------------------------------- Near the excavation area there is a small church named after "Sant'Efisio", the patron saint of Cagliari, which also gave its name to the nearby overlooking tower. This is the church where every 2nd of May the statue of S. Efisio is brought from Cagliari by a long procession ... Read review
