Punta Negra - great for a relaxing break
Review of Alghero, Sardinia (Italy) by bekiboo13

Advantages: Relaxing, nice pool area and beach, shuttle bus to Alghero.
Disadvantages: Hotel drinks quite expensive, pool water was very chlorinated.

I chose to go to Alghero, Sardinia after looking at Ryan Air's fly for a penny (+tax and charges which were low) site. I also wanted somewhere which will still have good weather in October. We were lucky because it was very hot for four of the five days we stayed. The Punta Negra hotel is just a short ride from the airport and cost about 20 euros by Taxi, the people behind us in the taxi queue were also going to the same hotel (realised only when ...
...one wants to share a taxi. We ate at the hotel that night as we arrived quite late and it was very dark and we did not know what dining options were in the local area. The hotel meal was a set 4 course menu. I wasn't too keen on the food or the restaurant and it seemed quite rushed. We ate out for our other meals. Breakfast was nice but simple, there was fruit, rolls with ham and cheese and cakes and biscuits. In Fertilia there is a pizza restaurant ... Read review

A land to hate, a land to love.
Review of Sardinia by petal99

Advantages: Nature is intact
Disadvantages: The north is very expensive

...it like I do. Sardinia is a sunny place, rather dry in fact.. when you make your way to the island by air make sure you have a peek out of your window where you will see vast patches of brown dark nearly- burnt dry land... completely the opposite to our English fresh an bright green landscapes. Sardinia in fact quite often suffers of long dry summer and also winter spells where water is scarse and therefore really precious and is only available ...
...to the next subject! Sardinia is an island under the island of Corsica and separated by the Bocche di Bonifacio. It is roughly at the same hight of Lazio (region which has Rome as capital) separated by the Tirreno sea and the south of Sardinia faces the Mediterranean sea. The sardinian population is made up of 1.680.000 inhabitants and its territory is made up of 24.089 km2 of land and if you want to travel by car from top to bottom it takes roughly ... Read review

Flamingo Flamenco
Review of Cagliari (Italy) by MALU

Advantages: a change from lying on the beach, the archeological museum , flamingos, St. Efisio
Disadvantages: some architectural sins

...I'm trying to see Cagliari (for you: Cá-lee-a-ree, stress on the first syllable), the capital of Sardinia, with the eyes of a tourist, not an easy task for me considering the fact that it has been the place where to visit in-laws for yonks. If you happen to be on the island in July or August, don't even think of visiting Cagliari unless the weather forecast promises a chilly spell (which is not very likely) or you're a mad dog or likewise Englishman. ...
...so that you can reach Cagliari still in the morning. I'd advise you to drive straight up to the old part of the city called Castello (Castle) from where you have a fine view of the gulf, the city and the harbour. Looking at the favourable geographical position between the sea and a fertile plain and a mountain range not too far away (to which people could evacuate if attacked from the sea) it's understandable that the site has been inhabited since ... Nice holiday in Sardinia
Review of Domus&Tour Holidays, Sardinia by Traveller67

Advantages: serious, easy to use, no agency fees
Disadvantages: little bit expensive but the quality must be paid

I love self-made travels but to manage them i always need serious internet operators because i have to chose and book accomodations, cars and ferry tickets. I've found recently a good local specialist for Sardinia. I've apreciated its site: simply to use, with complete information, good pictures and a easy email booking process. I've booked for myself an hotel and an holiday car and i had a very nice holiday. The hotel was consistent with the internet ... Read review

HOTEL ALMA de ALGHERO CLEAN and BRIGHT
Review of Alghero, Sardinia (Italy) by poshtroika

Advantages: Close to Beach and Old Town.
Disadvantages: Not great to look at from outside, but good inside.

This Hotel The ALMA d ALGHERO is just the place for a short stay in Alghero. Location is fine, within short stone throw of the Beach and close enough to the Old Town to walk your dinner off. (about 20 min slow stroll). The rooms are clean and bright and the showers large enough for even large people. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast time there is a good range to choose from. Cerials, cheeses, meats breads, fruits, cakes and ...
...large bowl of apples placed in reception for the guests. We would certainly use this Hotel again. Bar prices resonable 3 Euros for large Amereto/Ice at night. There is a super market within 5 mins walk. Free Car Parking also available. The Airport is close to the town, there is a Bus service from the Airport to Centre of Town, we chose a Taxi 20 Euros for the 4 of us, but as the Ryanair flight landed at 20:00hrs we wanted to get to Hotel a.s.a.p ...
