The show focuses on the life of Tony Manero, perfectly played by David Sellings, with his strong voice and finely toned body, you easily forget John Travolta. Saturday Night Fever
London Palladium
£10.00
I went to see Saturday Night Fever last January on a school trip to the West End. We went to the London Palladium where is was being shown. We went to a matinee performance so it was cheaper and as a child I got the ticket for the price of £10. I expect it is much more expensive for an evening performance. Saturday Night was a film and was made into a Musical. The show is set in 1979 ... ...of the music featured in the show is written by the Bee Gee's. The songs that are included in the Musical are;

Advantages: good songs Disadvantages: weak story line
This review refers to the London version.
I had seen quite a few musicals in London before seeing this. It wasn't something that was particularly on my list of things to see but with half price tickets we decided to give it a go.
I had seen the We Will Rock You musical which like this is based around songs and thoroughly enjoyed it and so I thought it should be good as I like almost all types of music. So I had quite high hopes for the show.
I ... ...but after seeing something in London yesterday which isn't as well known I thought I'd give a review about this due to my feelings.
The songs were catchy and had you singing them for a while after you left the theatre - I like it when musicals do that and then you just remember then.
However the story line of the musical was very weak and seemed like it had been put together just for the songs, it was, to be honest rubbish. The story didn't really ...

The Lion King
Lyceum Theatre, London
£20
I went to see The Lion King last year with my school on one of the school trips to london. We went and saw two musicals; SaturdayNightFever and The Lion King.
The Lion King is being shown at The Lyceum Theatre in the West End of London and has been for the past year.
The actors and Actresses aren't dressed up as animals but they are in a way. They have hats that are like an animal but you still see the actors face. Their make up is brilliant and they look so professional.
The story hasn't been changed like some of the musicals do, so you already know the story if you have seen the Disney film.
The Actors / Actresses all have amazing voices and they are very clear so if you are sitting high up you can still see very well.
I thought this was the best ...
Advantages: Different from most Disadvantages: door policy, clientele, atmosphere, vibe
of Stringfellows, and the worst thing is the blatant way it does it. Once you’re inside things are slightly different.
Upstairs has the restaurant where the fairly rich and famous eat and drink. There are also the pole dancers (probably rented from Selfridges-see my opinion on them!), or strippers, what ever you want to call them.
Downstairs has the main dance floor which is the 70's Saturdaynightfever style. Its a white lit tiled floor surrounded with bars and standing and sitting areas.
Now the waitresses are all bunny playboy girls, wearing not particularly much and smiling at every guy who walks past (their wages are based on tips)
The music is usually very mainstream stuff and I know of a DJ who was asked to leave because the music was just not traditional enough for 'da management'. So its chart hits, followed by Wham and Tina Turner ...
Advantages: It's on a few floors now Disadvantages: lots of straight people and not many loos
Since the previous review was written in 2004 the Powerhouse has moved (yet again - three times in about four years!)
The new club is a lot smaller than the previous one but it is spread across more floors.
It seems the only thing that hasn't changed are the prices. £10 entry on a Saturday but it is open from 23:00-04:00 (which I think most clubs are now).
This club is also a maze of stairs and doors. Once you pay your money you can either turn right into the ground floor bar which has just had a pool table and a DJ stand put in, from there you can go down the spiral staircase (not too good when you've had one too many) and deposit your coat for £1.50 or go to the toilets.
The first floor plays popular music, and has a flashing dancefloor a la SaturdayNightFever (who said it was the year 2007????) unfortunately ...
