Sauze D'oulx is one of the best places to stay in Italy if you want to use your £100 ski pass to a full. You can ski the vast milky way from Italy right into France, but this can only be done when all the pistes are in good condition and the weather is right. On the runs above Sauze D'oulx there is a wide range of skiing facitites for the beginner to the die hard skier. The only problem is that the gondala ride from the middle station to the top of the mountaion takes around 15 minutes and if you are in a 2 hour ski school 4 trips back up the mountain can take up to a hour of you lessons. The runs are in good condition and the series of piste bashers keep them clear from server piste defects so that you can have a great skiing lesson. There is a great moutain rescue service but they need to get there act together, when i was skiing in Sauze D'oulx it took them half a hour to decide to get the helicopter to take my brother of the mountain with a suspected broken leg.
In the village of Sauze D'oulx there is a great atmosphere during the day and night, but the all night disco out side my bedroom window was a bit much at 6.30am in the morning.

Advantages: Great location for the beginner, right through to the advanced skiers. Plenty of drinking holes and eateries. Disadvantages: 1.75Hr Coach travel from airport to the resort not very nice, given the road conditions (snow) and the sheer cliffs the roads pass by :/
