Stayed at the Saville in April 2007. I had heard mixed reports about it so was a bit apprehensive. The studio apartment was very well equipped with washer & dryer, dishwasher, microwave, full oven & grill and 2 TV's as well as DVD player and hi-fi. The lighting was a bit low especially in the bathroom, but on the whole the room was very comfortable and elegantly decorated
It was Easter weekend and there was quite a lot of noise on the first night from some girls in a nearby apartment, but after that no problems. The staff were polite but a little distant, and the concierge although helpful was a bit unforthcoming with information. We had to push him for more details than he seemed prepared to give.
The location is great, right in the centre on George Street, the main drag up to Circular Quay and the Rocks, and just off the main shopping area. Also about 10 mins walk to Darling Harbour where all the restaurants are.
We paid about £480 for 5 nights and it was worth every penny having an apartment as opposed to a hotel room. After 3 weeks travelling across Australia and eating out every night, it was absolute heaven to sit down to beans on toast on our first night there. The washer also got a bashing, clean clothes again!
This hotel is a good choice for anyone wanting a chance to relax and do their own thing, yet have the security of a hotel to rely on.
