Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: Small pool area
...This is a nice, comfortable 4 star hotel. It is very centrally located in the resort of Cala Galdana so if you like to people watch then get a sea view room and watch the world go by. In fact only get a seaview room because the rooms at the rear of the hotel are overlooked by a steep rock strewn cliff which casts a shadow all day.
The resort is set in a beautiful cove with a wide cresent-shaped beach. The water as a consequence is very warm and calm. The cove is flanked on each side by cliffs that can be climbed quite easily to get a great view of the resort below. If you carry on in either direction a 40 minute walk will get you to the next coves along this southern coast of the island.
The resort is quite small, has plenty of restaurants for all tastes and a very low-key night life. In fact the most popular evening entertainment...

Advantages: lots to see and do Disadvantages: None
...Bornemouth is a nice seaside resort on the south coast. Always associated with the retired element of the population and to be fair,it does have a fair number of retired people living there, but there is also a much younger element as well. Plenty of shops to suit everyone, lovely gardens with a pub/restaurant in the middle where you can watch the world go by. A good sea front, however this is a fair walk away from the rest of the town, and this provides all the usual seaside entertainment that you could possibly want. Hotels and guest hotels are everywhere, for a weekend break you would find something to suit every budget. Within easy travelling distance are the lovely gardens of Compton acres which are well worth a visit....

Advantages: Year Round Sunshine Disadvantages: North South Divide
...My husband and I (both in our thirties) have just returned from a week in the beautiful resort of Los Gigantes (Western Coast of Tenerife), so named because of the magnificent cliffs dominating the coastline. The cliffs were actually formed 170,000 years ago by a seam opening in the sea floor and forcing a wall of lava up vertically and Los Gigantes is an exquisite little village that is almost carved out of the rockface.
We stayed at the Hotel Los Gigantes; a very good 4* hotel - Thomson Gold's flagship, we were told. And it was truly representative of it's type; marble everywhere, clean, well appointed rooms, superb service & absolutely excellent food in terms of quality and variety. I would certainly recommend the hotel & resort as the kind of place you can go to for a spot of unwinding.
The downside? OAPs everywhere (which...

The reason as to why I bought my PSP was simple; I wanted to play a game that I was simply addicted to when I used to go to the arcades when I was on a family holiday at the seaside. The game was Out Run and was originally released back in 1986, the... more
I don't mind admitting that I love this country of ours, and one of the things I love most is the spectacular coastline that we are blessed with. It is no surprise then that when the Beeb produced the first series of Coast I was an ardent viewer.
