Seagulls Resort on the Seafront, Townsville

Advantages: Ideal for families

...I have just returned from our holiday - a week at Cala Millor. This resort is on the East coast of Majorca(about 1 hour from Palma airport) linked to its neighbouring resort of Cala Bona by a promenade. Cala Millor has a long, sandy beach with many sunbeds and parasols to hire, close to which is the shopping parade both seafront and off the seafront. A leisurely stroll in the evening (when the resort is bustling with tourists) along the promenade brings you to Cala Bona with its picturesque harbour and souvenir shops and bars. There are many hotels in these resorts, also many Germans. It is an ideal resort for families.... Read review

Advantages: Quiet, inexpensive, good for small kids
Disadvantages: Not much to do if it rains

...Morecambe is a smallish seaside town off the Lancashire coast. It got really run down a few years ago but seems to be improving now. There is a fine cinema, bowling alley, swimming pool, etc. The beach has been cleaned up and when the sun shines there is no finer seaside resort. Morecambe is better than blackpool if you have small children because its quieter and less expensive! Don't forget to see Eric Morecambe's statue on the seafront when you go. It's Morecambe's only claim to fame! (Just joking of course!) If you want an inexpensive meal go off the seafront and try one of the little cafes in the town itself. There are a couple of good ones near the Arndale Centre. Enjoy yourself......just pray that it doesn't rain.... Read review

...The Bay: Herne Bay used to be known as “Heron Bay,” which can give you a clue at what the reputation is. However, Herne Bay traded in the Herons for the over- whelming seagulls that contribute to the culture of this town. To anyone local, Herne Bay is known as “the Bay,” this may be interpreted as just as slang name, but to a local like me, it is because it is “the Bay” to visit. The Location: Herne Bay can be found on the South East coast, approximately 50 miles from London. Although within an hours drive from London or 1 hour and a half by train from Victoria Station, Herne Bay is Alien to the “hussel and bussel.” The closest this tight nit town gets to having to introduce a congestion charge, is along the beach during the summer.
