Advantages: Well paid, can work when you want, no planning Disadvantages: Behaviour, unpaid holidays, lack of social side
I have been doing supply teaching for over a year now. I thought I?d write about my experiences and give some advice to those who might be thinking of supply work.
BACKGROUND:
I trained to be a teacher in 2006-7. I had never wanted to be a teacher, it was never something I always dreamed of being. I had always planned to be a lawyer. Advantages: Great all round assessment of skills Disadvantages: None
This book would make a great introduction for anyone considering taking up a career in teaching, or interested in acquiring skills that would help them in their Teacher Training coursework. In fact, I suspect it may already be a set work, if not, it should be.

Classroom climate
Discipline
Assessing pupil's progress

Advantages: Ultimately satisfying in the long run Disadvantages: Can be gruelling, tiring and pressured hard work

In this case, what I propose is a quick run down of the basic training you need to go through in order to get qualified as a teacher in secondary education (sorry, but I can’t comment on the primary sector).
THE BASICS
First things first though, before we even get to the qualifications bit – before becoming a teacher you have to ask yourself some basic but obvious questions. Amongst others, you have to ask yourself if you see yourself actually ‘being’ a teacher ...
