Human Traces by Sebastian Faulks

Advantages: Amazing subject matter, well-handled and excellent characterisation
Disadvantages: May be a little long for some - but I didn't want it to end.

This amazing novel had me gripped from the very first line! I'm a massive fan of Sebastian Faulks, but had been put of this novel by reviews which said there were passages which were too long winded and scientific. Lesson one - read it yourself and make your own opinion! This is an incredible book, not quite up there with Birdsong (my favourite book of all time - so far) but still amazing. I can't describe the story better than Fauks himself so: "The story begins in the 1870s with the lives of two young men: Jacques Rebière, a peasant's son in Brittany, and Thomas Midwinter, a merchant's son in Lincolnshire. Jacques has a naturally scientific turn of mind, in which he is encouraged by the help of the local priest. He is inspired by his desire to find a cure for the mysterious illness of his elder brother Olivier -- who hears ...

WYNN STAY OR WILL STAY? YOU DECIDE

Advantages: Excellent beer, good leisure facilities, ample parking
Disadvantages: Feather pillows, pefunctory efficient staff, leisure facilities in a different building, small room, cannot meet DDA requirements (at present)

Why in the almighty ones name am I staying in a hotel in Oswestry you may well ask. I almost questioned the decision myself, but that?s another story. I had a Monday meeting in Bolton and a Tuesday meeting in Newtown, Mid/North Wales, superb really as one is en-route home from the other. However, I have strict criteria when seeking hotels, if I can get a pool and high-speed internet access, fabulous, then High Speed Access, then a pool, at least one please to keep me amused. Sadly, once you head south from Wrexham and Chester, high speed internet access and middle / upper class hotel chains are both very few and far between, and I didn?t really want to trek all the way from Wrexham for a 10am meeting. I stumbled across the Wynnstay rather by accident, and being part of the Best Western Chain it just had to be OK didn?t it? What ...

Sebastian Laminates Shampoo

Advantages: it has totally transformed how my hair looks and feels
Disadvantages: it is more expensive than other shampoos

Years of perming, colouring and generally abusing my hair has left it frizzy and a total nightmare to control or style. Sent like a gift from the gods, Sebastian Laminates Shampoo is designed to help keep frizzy or dry hair under control and I am really pleased that it was recommended to me. So much so I wanted to share my experiences. Even though it is much more expensive than other regular shampoo and conditioners at £10 for 250ml I found that it lasts just that little bit longer than other shampoos because I only need a little amount to wash my hair which is currently down to my shoulders in length. When I use other brands, after washing my hair goes really dry and feels almost brittle to the touch. Some would call it straw hair. Using Sebastian Laminates Shampoo won't see dramatically different results over the short term, but two ...
