Advantages: Huge, beautiful and welcoming Disadvantages: nothing really
On a recent visit to London on business I had the pleasure to stay at the SelsdonPark Hotel in Surrey, with 207 rooms, 4 suites and 25 conference rooms I was sure that this would be a comfortable place to rest my head.
Situated in 205 acres of parkland with it's own 18-hole championship golfcourse and other leisure facilities including an outdoor swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and a leisure centre plus stunning views and with SelsdonPark recently undergoing a £6million refurbishment I felt that this is a hotel was not to be overlooked.
I found this hotel on the 'infotel' website when searching for places in Surrey to stay and with a 4 star rating I felt that this would be perfect, I was not wrong. Given it's 4 stars as expected there are a great amount of facilities including Room Service, TV's in rooms and parking not ...
Advantages: Easy walking, not arduous, superb catering Disadvantages: The course has some settling to do
This course was constructed by Elmwood College, which is the top European College for Golf Management Studies, and opened in 1997. Regrettably, I think they have to study a bit harder. To give it the benefit of the doubt, the course was originally agricultural land and still has a lot of settling in to do. You still get the feeling of walking from field to field as a lot of the original walls are still there.
The surrounding countryside is open farmland with Tarvit Hill to the south and Lomond Hills to the west. It’s a lovely setting and the welcome cannot be faulted.
THE COURSE
It’s a par 70 (sss 68) for men and par 73 (sss72) for ladies. The course is pretty straightforward with only a few greenside bunkers (no fairway bunkers). The only real problem is the knee high rough if you are really wayward.

Advantages: Cheap, reasonably clean Disadvantages: Facilities not as available as advertised, expensive food, staff are cold
It's been a tough time at work for my sister and recently she has been feeling particularly down. I've also been needing to get away, so we decided to book ourselves a little weekend break just to have a change of scene. Both of us following the philosophy that to be a proper break we needed to stay somewhere comfortable and with things to do as winter is coming and we can't trust weather to be great, we decided to go for a hotel with leisure facilities. After much trawling for a decent deal on the Internet, we came across The CroydonPark Hotel. Basically the deal was £120 for two nights in a twin room, no breakfast. Normally I am keen to book breakfast but as my sister often skips it, we just couldn't justify the price. For the two of us for two nights breakfast on top would have added a whopping £40 onto our bill.
