Advantages: Great City, nice 2 days to 1 week Disadvantages: some places might get very crowded
...Madrid is a great ctiy for a 2 days visit or to a 1 week visit.
Places to visit:
-Madrid de los austrias: Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Royal Palace, Opera square...
-Fountain of Cibeles the symbol of Madrid,
-Gate of Alcala
-GranVia
-Paseo de la castellana
-The Golden TRiangle, with the museums: Prado, Thyssen Bornemmissa and Reina Sofia (Modern ARt).
...and the night life.
Go to the neirborhoods of:
-Huertas: plaza de santa ana, specially with lots of bars and cervecerias (beer)..
-La Latina: with lots of tapas bars...allways full of spanish people... good also for a drink at sunday mornign...
-Lavapies: with arabic bars, and more underground places
-Chueca (gay scene), with lots of design and cool restaurants, bars, pubs...
-Malasana.....for a more hippy vacation
and just walk around...enter in a bar, take a drink..and enjoy.....

Advantages: lots to see Disadvantages: public transport difficult to find
...the architectural brilliance of this building. It was built in the mid 18th century to replace the previous palace, which had been destroyed by a fire in 1734.
It's similar to Buckingham palace in many ways, being the official residence of Spain's royal family (although they don't actually live there) and is an absolute must to see.
It's situated in Calle Bailén about 5-10 minutes walk from La GranVia.
2) Palacio de Cristal (glass palace)
This is situated in a wonderful park known as el Parque del Retiro. There is also a fantastic lake and a marvellous monument surrounded by water.
The main entrances to this park are in La calle de Alcala, la calle de alfono XII and la plaza de la independencia.
