I have decided to write another review after all this time. Please be gentle with me. I have been lucky enough to visit Singapore on four occasions and each time we always make time to visit Sentosa and I would like to share with you why. How to get there Sentosa is approximately 15 minutes away from the city and 25 minutes from Changi International Airport. There are five different ways to get there 1 ---- Walk in via the Causeway bridge this costs 6S$ for adults and 4S$ for children. 2 --- By bus from the ticketing arrivals centre this costs 7S$ for adults and 5S$ for children 3 --- By Ferry from the ferry terminal costs 8.30S$ for adults and 6S$ for children 4 --- By cable car not for the faint hearted from Mt Faber tickets approx 14S$ and 7S$ for children 5 ---Taxi this is how we approached it and had a voucher supplied by Singapore airlines
with allowed free entry to the island so we only had to pay the taxi which was from the far end of Orchard road and cost roughly 5S$ ( Taxis are very cheap and the best way for getting about quickly) Exchange rate when we visited was roughly 3S$ to £1 so it was not expensive.
What is There. Singapore's island resort is spread over 500 hectares and is home to some lovely beaches as well as golf courses plus lots more. Once on the island you can get about on the free buses ,the monorail or beach train. I will endeavour to tell you some of the attractions.
The Merlion and Merlion Walk Sitting imposingly in the centre of the island is the giant 37 metre tall structure which offers breathtaking views of the island. You pay 3S$ admission and are given a coin there is also a show telling you the history and the founding of Singapore. Next you take the lift to the summit you can take pictures from its open mouth or continue up another flight of stairs and get the views from the head. As you come out the lift on your descent you pop you coin in to see if you win a prize, everyone seems to get a key ring I am not sure what the other prizes were. Then you are in the shop and café. it's a good idea to buy a bottle of water as it is very hot and humid in Singapore. The merlion walk is behind the Merlion and is jumping water jets over a brightly coloured mosaic in the form of a dragon.
The Dolphin Lagoon Get up close and personal with an Indo-Pacific Humpback dolphin they are a unique pink colour and were just fantastic. There is a show and then you can get in the water and get your pick taken with them. They hold about 4 shows a day and the admission price includes admission to the Underwater world. Pictures with the dolphins are extra and cost about 10S$
Underwater World Spectacular display of thousands of species of fish, sharks, eels and giant stingrays pass you as you move along the travellator that takes you through a tunnel where the fish swim over your head you feel like you are in the water with them. Admission charge about 17S$ includes dolphin lagoon
Images of Singapore Singapore's historic and cultural heritage come to life in three zones-- Pioneers of Singapore, the Surrender Chambers and Festivals of Singapore in the shape of life like wax characters. Admission Charge about 8S$
Volcanoland I was never in this attraction but I believe it took you on journey to the earths core includes eruption complete with tremors and bursts of hot air and hissing steam. Admission approx 8S$
Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom This houses on of the largest displays in the world of butterflies and insects with more than 3000 exhibits. Admission approx 8S$
Sijori Wondergolf 3 different courses set in landscaped greens will keep any budding Tiger Woods amused for hours if only it wasn't so hot.!!! Take about 1 hour to play and costs 8S$
Cinemania This is a 3D virtual reality ride which I was unable to do for health reasons (well that's my story and I am sticking to it) 2 rides are included in the admission price of 12S$
Fort Siloso Built in the 1880s by the British Royal Artillery this is the only preserved costal fort an is a reminder of the islands colonial heritage Admission charge 5S$
Free Shows Animal show at Palawan Beach is on twice a day and has monkeys peacocks and chickens.
Bird show has wonderful parrots and Macaws and is at the ferry terminal
Enchanted Grove of Tembusu This has lots of toadstools and the face of a man set in the tree roots which has to be seen to be believed it also has an orchid garden.
Musical Fountains this is a spectacular show and is best viewed at night as the fountains lights lasers and video images are choreographed to music its fantastic but go early and be sure of a good seat. The fountain gardens are fabulous at night and all the trees are covered with lights it is very romantic.
The island is also home to lots and lots of cafes shops and restaurants Our favourite place to eat is the Riverboat down at the boardwalk near the ferry terminal. It has a lot of character and is never that busy plus the food was great. The beaches are beautiful with glorious white sand and offer a variety of water sport equipment to hire you can also hire bikes or roller blades. The one thing that put me of was the tankers sitting just off shore not the ideal thing to look at when you are doing a spot of sun bathing so makes me wonder how clean the water would be. Well that's it I hope it gives you an idea what Sentosa is like and is of help to you if you are thinking of visiting. Enjoy I know I did.

well done! unfortunately, Ive been to Singapore twice already but never visited Sentosa for one reason: quite expensive and it takes a day to really enjoy the place. Its nice to know that Singapore used a Philippine place known as 'Palawan' which is located downsouth of the country. nice photos as well. By the way, it was featured Sentosa during a tribute TV show for Steve Erwin last month.

Advantages: Plenty to see and do, great for the whole family, Easy to get around the island Disadvantages: Prices for individual attractions on top of the entry onto Sentosa
Advantages: Perfect for a unique cultural immersion and a wild food-attack. Excellent transport system means getting to anywhere is a breeze. Disadvantages: Hot (at least 30C everyday). Also, there is no natural scenery to speak of.
