No, it not that milky white choclate bar that I still enjoy. I'm refering to the Ski area that covers the Sestriere and Sauze'd oulxresorts. The area is big, around 400km of piste to cover, which even takes you into france, if you can bare the long lift journeys in between. The skiing in the area is also very expansive with plenty of runs to test advanced down to beginer level. But it is at the intermediate skiier that the milky way is aimed at, with more red runs than you could shake a stick at. However after going there twice now, and staying in sauze d'oulz both times it has to be said that the runs are a little over rated, most of the blacks are like steep red runs and some red runs are blue runs realy. Another thing to watch out for is the snow record for this place, I'd strongly advise not to book up until you have seen the snow in the resorts, as the snow record is very bad. (So no early bookings advised!) Another thing to watch out for is the popularity of the resort with the locals, it gets very busy at the weekend, with very long waits for lifts. But with all the runs avalible you should be able to find a quiet spot. (Hint - Genevris and Sansicario are quiet with some great runs, if you don't mind the long drag lifts and black runs) On a better note The area has had a new lift pass system that scans you as you go past, (so no more elastic passes hitting you in the face) and the towns of Sauze and Sestriere are livly and good value for money.

Advantages: Great location for the beginner, right through to the advanced skiers. Plenty of drinking holes and eateries. Disadvantages: 1.75Hr Coach travel from airport to the resort not very nice, given the road conditions (snow) and the sheer cliffs the roads pass by :/
