Lemuria Resort - a honeymoon destination

Advantages: Wow factor
Disadvantages: Nothing!!

Wow!! This was the destination for the first week of my honeymoon. Well, although we didn't see the day for the first few days, the rest was absolute heaven. The entrance to the hotel was second to none. Having had particulars taken and check in at the 'lower' reception, we were taken to the upper reception behind two large wooden carved doors. As the gentleman opened the two dors, he paused for a moment and uttered......'welcome to Lemuria resort'. ...
...and greeted us. The birds singing and the trickle of the waterfall infront of us were barely noticed as the view into the hotel and beyond onto the beaches and crystal clear waters took our breath away. It also set the flood gates open - my wife was in tears!! The service in this resort is truly spectacular. Every member of staff knows your name and treats you perfectly every time without exception. Honeymoon - Banyan Tree, Seychelles

Advantages: Pure luxury
Disadvantages: None that we found

The staff could not be more friendly and, after the welcome cocktail and photo (which was presented to us at the end in a frame) we were taken to our villa. Review of Banyan Tree, Mahe Island

The best mid-range hotel on Mahe

Advantages: great beachside location, good facilites, dive centre, full of character
Disadvantages: impolite reception staff, quite expensive (but everything is in Seychelles)

The Coral Strand is situated right on the beach in Beau Vallon and definitely has the best location of the big hotels, as there are several restaurants (the best of which is the Boathouse for Seychellois cuisine), a few shops and an internet cafe within walking distance. Even though it is the tourist hub of Mahe, don't expect a great variety of bars and restaurants, and there are certainly very few shopping oppotunities. The Coral ...
...Victoria. Taxis stand in the Coral Strand car park, but they inflate their prices to a ridiculous level. It is much cheaper to have reception call someone in from Victoria. There are a couple of rental car offices in Beau Vallon, and you can hire a small car for around US$30 per day.
