Escape from the busy streets of Headingly, and step back in time to a 1950's style milkshake bar - Shaky Jakes!
In A Nutshell
Shaky Jakes is a small cafe in Headingly, Leeds, and they specialise in making milkshakes out of chocolate bars, biscuits, fruit and sweets. The style of the cafe is very retro! You get a very relaxed, cool vibe when you enter the shop. They have over 200 different options for you to choose from, which is great! They also deliver locally!
The Good
The milkshakes are lovely and the few staff that work there are very friendly! You are given a free card where you collect a stamp each time you buy something, and when you get 8 stamps you get a free regular milkshake of your choice. The variety of drinks available are fabulous, anyone for a 'Parma Violets and Mustard with a chilli topping' (note that on shakyjakes.co.uk they do NOT encourage you to order that!) - I know that sounds like it should feature in *The Bad* category, but my point is that there is something for everyone - even the most adventurous! If you are feeling fruity, there are some fabulous smoothie-style drinks. You can buy ice creams as well. You can have your drinks hot, too which is surprisingly nice! For first-timers, I recommend a Galaxy Caramel Milkshake, it's simply gorgeous. Also, they sell Shaky Jakes badges and hoodies, too (I'm not sure why, but it's quite cool...)
The Bad
The cafe is quite small, it only has around four or five small tables inside, which simply can't fit in all it's adoring customers! There is also outdoor seating, but that's not too good in the cold, wet, typical British weather! Also, at peak-time the queue can stretch for ages, but it sure is worth it! Another bad point is if you decide to be risky - you could end up with a less-than-lovely concoction! Also, (and I know, I know I keep banging on about this) but it costs £2.60 for a small milkshake, and £3 for a large.
My Experience
Well, me and my friend decided to make our own Shaky-Jakes style milkshakes, and, although some turned out not so nice, our Oreo one tasted exactly the same, for a fraction of the price! So, Shaky Jakes is pricey, but it's worth it for the cool, retro vibe, and it's the perfect place to chill out with friends and family! It's target audience is mainly the teenagers and students, but it is also the perfect place for families. Anyone and everyone is welcome! I love going to Shaky Jakes and will continue to go there again and again!
Price-Wise
This cafe is too overpriced, but it is such a lovely place I don't really mind spending the money!
All In All...
It's a brilliant milkshake parlour, unique, retro and has an immensely cool vibe! Lovely tasting drinks, too!

There are lots of these sorts of milkshake places springing up all over the country now.
Never seem to taste as nice when you try and make them at home! x
