Advantages: great location from which to explore Dubai. complimentary bus service. Disadvantages: beach is a bus ride away.
...We stayed at this 5 star deluxe hotel for a week in October. We have stayed in a Shangri-Lahotel before (in Penang, Malaysia) so knew beforehand it was going to be an excellent hotel. The hotel opened in July 2003 – so everything inside was brand new. It is about 200 metres tall and has 43 storeys. we booked this hotel as part of a package. It cost £100 a night for a premier room. We dont normally spend so much, however it was our first year wedding anniversary .
Sheikh Zayed Road is the business, commercial and financial area of Dubai. It is 15 minutes away from Dubai International Airport and five minutes from the World Trade Centre.
Upon arrival we were shown to our room, which was on the 37th floor. We had a premier room – the full selection is deluxe, executive, premier, one bedroom suite and presidential suite.
The view...

Advantages: Beautiful rooms and fantastic view of Harbour Bridge and Opera House Disadvantages: Pricey!
...My husband and I stayed at the ShangriLa in Sydney in March 2005. As I was 4 months pregnant we thought we would treat ourselves to a final blowout holiday before children began swallowing all our spare cash! The ShangriLa did not disappoint us. Our huge bedroom was absolutely sumptuous. Beautifully and stylishly decorated with silk wall hangings and a fantastic view over the harbour bridge and opera house from our floor to ceiling windows. We decided to have room service for dinner a couple of evenings as we would have been hard pressed to find a restaurant that offered such a fantastic setting. The service at the hotel was very efficient and friendly and the food was delicious.
There is a bar at the top of the hotel which although fairly small is obviously popular as it was packed from early on the friday evening we...

Advantages: Beautiful hotel, really friendly staff Disadvantages: Long walk to the shops
...We stayed at the ShangriLahotel for 3 nights in March 2006. I travelled in a party of 5 adults and we shared 2 rooms. We stopped over on our way to Australia as part of a 2 month holiday and we all agreed this was the nicest hotel we stayed in.
The hotel was beautiful, set in gardens and has a very grand appearance, with a really nice reception area and bar, and you would expect in Singapore it is very clean.
The rooms were really nice with fresh fruit and tea, and very very helpful staff. There is a large pool with sun loungers which is great as it was very humid in Singapore.
The restaurants in the hotel were mixed, we went to the Chinese restaurant on the first night which was nice, but the other restaurants are mainly seafood so the reception staff were really helpful and recommended restaurants and booked taxis for us...
