The Charm Of Sharm

Advantages: Friendly locals, nice beaches, family orientated, hot, good for diving
Disadvantages: Some of the locals can be pushy, sunburn!

...an 11 night stay in Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt.

Where is Sharm El Sheikh?
Sharm el-Sheikh is probably one of the most popular places for people to visit in Egypt and it is certainly the most developed tourist resort. It is situated on the Sinai Peninsula.

How Long Does It Take To Get To Sharm?
The flight to Sharm takes just over 5 hours from any of the London Airports which isn’t too bad.

...
...holiday that Sharm airport is really manic but we didn’t find that at all, this could be due to that fact that they had a new terminal open earlier this year.
The airport is fairly small, especially considering that I am comparing it to the London Airports.
Avoid the local men with the trollies for your luggage, they will try and charge you £2 for using it so we made sure we carried our own luggage!!

Sharm el Shiekh - Dive in

Advantages: Weather, diving, friendliness, hotel stds and price
Disadvantages: Adjusting to Arab culture and being pestered

...returned from Naama Bay in Sharm el Shiekh which could possibly be the best value dive resort in the world. This review is actually of Naama Bay the area itself and what it has to offer. I must quantify this by stating that the diving/snorkelling is my own personal experience. Personally I could never just go and lie on a beach for more than an hour or two (and 2 hours would need a very very good book!). The 'bucket and spade brigade' info is feedback ...
...WHERE IS NAAMA BAY - SHARM EL SHIEKH Sharm el Shiekh is placed very close to the peninsula of an area called Sinai in Egypt but is actually a triangular strip of desert between the mainland Egypt and Israel/Jordan and Saudi Arabia (see map below). It is on the coast of the Red Sea. Sharm el shiekh old town is actually on a cliff top, the main beach area here is Naama Bay which is at cliff base level and slightly further up the coast. There is a ...

...a hotel called the Conrad Sharm El Sheik in Egypt for a week from Monday 12th of June to the 19th of June. We had the most amazing holiday and I hope you enjoy reading my review of what I consider one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited in my life. I will start by reviewing the actual travel agents, etc then go on to the beautiful Sharm! Who did you book with? We booked with a well known travel Agent called First Choice. How much ...
...all about the history of Sharm on the way to the hotel too! What was your hotel like and where was it situated? Our hotel was called the Conrad Sharm El Sheik and was situated just a fifteen minute drive from the airport and a 30 minute drive from Naama Bay. Our hotel was absolutely beautiful. It was a four star hotel and had everything you could imagine. We were situated on this wonderful beach with clear blue water, white sand, palm trees absolute ...

Disadvantages: "Come sign my guestbook"

...a 8 days holiday in Sharm el Sheikh (Naama Bay). It was a wonderful experience - please read our review. ********** BOOKING ********** We booked via lastminute.com just 4 days before we went there - at £ 179 per person for 7 nights a real bargain. Included were: - flight with Astraeus (charter airline) from and to Gatwick - 7 nights accommodation incl. breakfast in the Ocean Bay Hotel - transfer from and to the airport in Sharm el Sheikh Travel ...
...a visa to travel to Sharm el Sheikh. HOWEVER, if you plan to move outside (e.g. Ras Mohammed National Park) a visa is required. You can purchase the visa (£ 10) on arrival at the airport, fairly easy procedure. My partner (Brazilian) had to obtain a tourist visa (£ 15, for single entry) with the Egyptian Consulate in London before travel. Check visa requirements with the Egyptian Consulate before travelling if you are not a UK citizen. ********** ...

The Sun Has got His Hat On..All Year Round

Advantages: Hot, Beaches, Purpose Built Resort
Disadvantages: Locals and Food

...a week's holiday to Egypt, Sharm el Sheikh, Naama Bay to be precise. So last September we made our way to Egypt, the flight was 5 hours and 20 minutes (ish) and it was hot, we had landed in the evening and although it was dark it was like stepping in to a sauna (lovely). Once we were all checked in and settled in to our room, we went to have a wander. We stayed right in the middle of town (at the New Tiran Hotel - review coming shortly). I had been ...
...our own choices. Sharm el Sheikh is made up of three bays (quite confusing) as no-one really tells you this and when I originally started looking for package deals and hotels I didn't know where they were, everything just says Sharm el Sheikh (very annoying) so I made sure I asked which bay each and every hotel was in. Naama Bay is the biggest bay and full of tourists, restaurants, locals, shops, bars, excursion places, dive shops and taxi's, plenty ...

Sharm El Bake! - My Experience

Advantages: Perfect tan guaranteed, memroable experience, cheap
Disadvantages: Constant hassling, precautions, unable to relax

...now! I travelled to Sharm El Sheikh at the beginning of June with my girlfriend and our cliché ‘sun, sea and sand’ ideals. We arrived around 8pm to find it was still lovely and hot, and by the time we arrived at our hotel around 9pm it was still 32 degrees, and we were informed that it had reached 46 degrees during the day. Wow. Then came the guidelines that made this heat less than ideal: • Do no drink the water. It is taken directly from the Red ...
...I would probably still recommend Sharm El Sheikh for a holiday. You may not get ill and you may be much more acclimatised to the heat that punished me. And apparently the diving facilities are some of the best in the world. If just for that reason alone Egypt will always attract tourism for a long time to come. Would I go back there? Maybe not next year ...

A Grand Hotel

Advantages: Lots of facilities, clean, spacious rooms
Disadvantages: Just the health staff round the pool

Grand Sharm Having decided on a trip to Sharm el Sheikh for the Easter break, the task fell to me to chose a hotel. Because we were going as a family, we wanted something with sufficient activities to keep everyone happy, and it also had to be of a relatively high standard as regards food and cleanliness. Having visited this part of the world on several occasions, I decide on this hotel because I knew it was clean, with lots of facilities, and best of all, children went free. ~~First Impressions~~ After a short transfer of about 20 minutes from the airport, we got the the gates of the hotel, and after the usual showing of ID, we went in. First impressions were good. The lobby was large and impressive with a fountain in the middle of the room, and an impression of marble and airiness. Check in was a simple procedure, and whilst ...

Review of Iberotel Grand Sharm, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt

Iberotel Palace Hotel, Sharm

Advantages: A wonderful stay
Disadvantages: None

ensuring everything was up to standard. Clean towels provided daily and sometimes more often. Beds were turned down at night and they always made something with your towel,ie a swan and placed it on your pillow. We regularly received fresh flowers, fruit or sweeties. There were some lovely little touches. The whole purpose of our holiday was rest and recuperation so we didn\'t venture out much. Had a wee walk around Sharm and the \'shops\'. There was not much to buy but it\'s an experience and being told how beautiful you are all the time is a real ego boost. We did venture on a diving trip and a boat trip both organised by Che which were great fun, if you love the sea and boats. A few of the people on board realised they were not sea faring people!! But the main purpose of this review is the hotel on which I could rant on for ages ...

Review of Iberotel Palace Hotel, Sharm el sheikh, Egypt

A very top 4* Hotel

Advantages: Exceptionally clean, friendly, peaceful and top food
Disadvantages: Nightly entertainment, spirits.

. You can walk to Naama bay in half an hour i believe but you get hassled by traders. Unfortunately the 3 terrorist explosions went off in Dahab while we were staying, so we didn't venture out, but everything carried on regardless in the hotel. OVERALL: We found the complex to be outstandingly peaceful and relaxing- only a couple of kids and no rowdy pool games-great. So, don't come here if you don't like sunbathing/reading/realxing all day! Suitable for couples and anyone who is looking for a high standard peaceful holiday. I thoroughly recommend this as a very high 4* and will definately return to Egypt again as there is plenty i would like to see and do. I have come back with a very good 1st impression of Egypt's people, their food and cleanliness. ...
