Lovely, relaxing holiday
Review of Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) by HAYLOLS

Advantages: Hot Hot Hot
Disadvantages: Once was enough...not much good food about!

...went to Naama Bay, in Sharm El Sheikh in October last year with a friend and I have to say it was the most relaxing and hottest holiday I have ever been on. the moment we stepped off of the plane, the forty degree heat hit us. After collecting out luggage we got into a cab straight away. First impressions were not good; There are so may developments that have been left unfinished. There are so many beautiful resorts, but the nicest ones all seem ...
...We stayed in the Halomey Hotel, wich was situated on the top of a cliff, meaning we got a lovely breeze coming in off the bay, keeping us cool...well coooler than those in the main resort where it was too hot to even walk about durig the day! the hotel itself really needs modernising as it looks a bt shabby, but the location and helpfulness of the staff make up for that tenfold! I always get worried about the food I eat when I am away; whether it ... Read review

Advantages: Easy acess to hotel, coral reefs onsite, friendly staff, good prices
Disadvantages: None

...Resort as it has the Sinai Dive School on the site with easy access to the sea from a jetty. The Sinai Dive School The dive school is situated at the bottom of the Hilton site complex and is an easy walk to get there, about 5- 10 minutes from main reception. This school is PADI registered and has just celebrated its 20 year anniversary this year. Layout of Dive Club The main entrance to the School is adjacent the Sunset Bar on the far extent ...
...the front and rear of the school and this is very handy for us abled bodied too as when you are hot and got all your diving equipment on it can make it easier than stairs. As you enter through the main entrance, there are two rooms on your left – this is where we did our paperwork/theory sections and watched the video section of the course work each day. They had a section behind the counter which passed into the gear set up area where you found ... Read review

Arab Hell
Review of Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) by johnwilki

Advantages: Diving, Standard of Hotels.
Disadvantages: Arabs.

Went to Sharm El Sheikh over Christmas last year. Bigger hotels are fantastic we stayed at The Rennaissance 5* which we couldn't fault. But it was all downhill from here. Weather was not as good as we'd hoped, 22deg. ish during the day but constant wind made it feel cooler, at night very chilly. Have been to many places in the world where you get pestered, but not on this scale or with what I felt was with the same aggression, In the end you don't ...
...staff have to behave. Old Sharm is the original town, still not really Westernised but a couple of hours and you`ve seen it, but they just don't leave you alone, also it`s virtually dry (no beer). Narma Bay is the modern area a couple of miles down the coast. Very tacky, McDonalds, Hard Rock Cafe and KFC to name a few. Shops are aimed at tourists, and they try every trick to drag you in. Forget browsing you just can't. Taxi`s are cheap and you'll ... Read review

Sharm el Sheikh
Review of Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) by girlscanboard

Advantages: great weather for just a 5 1/2 hour flight, value for money
Disadvantages: hassle from shopkeepers

...was lucky enough to visit Sharm for free in March this year - one of the perks of being a travel agent is we occasionally get 'fam trips' which means we are taken to a destination and shown around numerous hotels and the sights so that we are able to sell it confidently when back home. These trips are really beneficial, and I think I certainly appreciate them more now I am self employed. So there was a group of about 10 of us and we visited about ...
...a lot of clout in Sharm and we were treated like royalty wherever we went. In hindsight I suppose this may have given me a rose tinted view of the place as everything was done for us, we even got fastracked through the aiport avoiding the dreaded queue. Med Hotels and MST tours were our hosts, the local reps were fantastic and as they are all Egyptian they are very respected by and have a good relationship with the hoteliers. I can totally recommend ... Read review

Sharm el Melt!
Review of Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) by steve0898

Advantages: Beautiful place, friendly service, good hotels
Disadvantages: Intimidating, too hot

...a two week break to Sharm mid-July this year, flying from East Midlands Airport the flight took a little under 6 hours. Upon arrival to the airport we were informed that the airport was a Military Airport and reps were not allowed inside the building, this scared us a little. After getting off the plane we were greeted by guards with rifles who escourted us to the arrivals desk where we were pursuaded to buy Visas for about £15 each. Take note, you ...
...Sharm ie visit pyramids, visit bedouin town. After collecting our luggage which did arrive very quickly we took the short trip to the coaches outside where we were met by our rep, along the way were asked by locals if we wished to use trolleys to take out luggage for a charge of £2 (our luggage had wheels! Ha-ha!). The coach trip to sharm took about half an hour from the airport and unfortunately we were the last drop off. There was a really strong ... Read review
