First the bad. Don't book with Shearings if you want to go on holiday on a specific date. I booked a 5 day holiday to the Tarbet hotel in Scotland in February for the 21st of July for our silver wedding which was on the 23rd. I paid in full 8 weeks before departure and then 6 weeks before departure Shearings wrote to me saying they had to cancel the holiday due to lack of numbers. I could either have a full refund or move to the week after, we couldn't find anything else suitable and so had to go the week after.
We were very annoyed to say the least and I had to change my holiday dates at work which didn't go down well.
So just be aware, they can cancel your holiday anytime they like and just give you £10 compensation but if you cancel they can take 90% of your money.
The holiday itself was good, we had a very helpful coach driver who had a great knowledge of the area. It is the first time we have been to Scotland and we loved the Highlands. It's the first time we have been on a coach holiday and I would say however the seats weren't very comfortable for the amount of time we were sat in them, over the 5 days we travelled over a 1000 miles. The Hotel was clean and we had a decent size room overlooking Loch Lomond. We enjoyed the food and everything was run efficiently. There was entertainment on each night although it wasn't anything to write home about. Overall we enjoyed the holiday but being uncomfortable on the coach spoiled it somewhat.

Advantages: Affordable holidays in the Sun. Great Staff, a good choice of locations Disadvantages: Coaches not what they are hyped up to be. Lower Decks uncomfortable and cramped.
